Bushing wrote an article about a system like this almost 10 years ago. Of course, he was more interested in the technical aspects, including the bare NAND dump, but some info is in there about what he did to get it. Depending on how technical you are, you may be able to use some of this info?

I don't think someone would trust anyone who literally has a whole page on their wordpress dedicated to calling people government leachers, drug addicts, etc. (quote "Guess white people can be [REDACTED] too!") to dump a day-0/kiosk Wii.

Regardless, afaik there's no viable way to burn the Startup Disk ISO onto a regular disc, from my own experience. My parents got a Day-0 Wii that but ended up not using it because it never had a startup disk and ended up buying a new one in 2009, and even that old Wii doesn't work with burned disks. I think your best bet is to see if the person you bought it from had a disk that was close to this

It's a stretch, since my knowledge is limited, but you could try buying a development disk and see if it burns. If it doesn't, someone here will probably correct me.

Edit: Scratch that, you need a Wii devkit to even remotely read/write it RTV-R disks. Sorry, mate.

Yeah, unfortunately they didn’t. I already called in and asked if they did, to no avail. As far as I know, nobody in the public even has access to a disc like that anymore.

Assuming you get the Wiikey installed - get the NTSC semi brick disc and that will update to 3.2 with a hex edit to get it booting.

From there use another hack to update some of the IOS (mainly IOS9 to start) and update from a retail disc.

My opinion is that only one version was made - that would get Wii Menu 1, IOS9, Mii Channel, and the advertisement for Shop Channel on "blank" IOS4 Wiis like op's

Fun fact from yesterday's leak: thank the developer of IOS9 for removing run-time signature checks in the name of speed and making the HBC, etc possible

I have some massive grudges against the people that ripped my 2 children away from me 5 years ago. A page dedicated to those scum bags is nothing compared to what they have done to me, my children, and our relationship. That family is full of child molesters and jsut very very bad people that I am trying to expose. Not just going to sit quiet anymore as my life got ruined.

To this day, no one has found an actual start up disc. People have had discs with hand written stuff on them, but I doubt those would have been packed in with a wii. They would have used real pressed and printed discs i think.

The startup disc wii that bushing had dumped, I got that converted over to my wii a while ago and have played around with it. Cool thing.

Aw man, if I knew that were the case I wouldn't have gone and said that, my apologies, mate :(

I remember seeing someone actually manage to recover a startup disk at some point, I think from a closing sale, much like how OP got his Wii. If I find the post, I'll update this.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

As the veteran wii nand expert here that everyone here will agree with me on this, send me the wii for me to dump it please.

UPDATE: This Wii's gonna be going to DeadlyFoez. Here's hoping they can do something cool with it!
Make sure to update us with the contents of this Wii!

what about that wii recovery mode that boots with all 4 dpad directions pressed? that used to bring up the firmware version ans you could update if form a disc that has a higher firmware update. U can also use a autoboot mod chip. These kind of wiis are kinda rare. Must be early units. The nand needs to be dumped. thats for sure
