The base IOS for wii disc game : that one is new, but lists only problematic games, and should be almost complete already. it's only missing confirmation for 2 games

Are you saying that you went through THOUSANDS of games and confirmed that only those games have problems on current cIOSs? Because if that is what you're saying, that is incredibly impressive, even if the software has been out for years. Even OPL on PS2 still has more issues than that.

I'm saying after 18 years, only thoses games were problematic and users asked a lot how to fix them.
all other games never had any issues in 18 years.
Not counting "antipiracy check" games such as Drivers, tintin, as these games require Neek.
it's a list of required "base IOS", and only these games require a specific unique base IOS.

But if you know any other problematic game with required IOS (non 56/57 as it's the common hacking setup in most guides), be sure to participate to that list.

It's not really "problematic game", just games which require a different, specific, settings not provided by common hacking guides.
it's not a list of non working game, but a "how to make it work because it's not really broken" list.
because I had enough and was tired of telling users to "use slot250" for 10 years ..... to play call of duty while they couldn't test that by themselves.

I don't know how helpful it will be, but I have a few pretty rare versions of games (that I could find), so as I get to those, if I have issues, I will let you know.

I also have an extensive WiiWare library, so I can report those as I go through them, but I can't promise a timely effort lol. But so far, my only 2 reports are for Metal Gear, but they technically aren't exactly the Japanese MSX VC versions because they are translated. I haven't tested the original versions, untranslated.

I don't care about the "pretty rare version" if it's not an official game.
if you injected games, or patched with translation, etc.
these should not be listed in my opinion, they are not official games and could be dependent of lot of things, patch version, patcher version, etc.

I think MGS untranslated would benefit from being in that list :)
if you ever has it and time to do some tests.
thank you.

Gotcha. Makes sense. Either way, if the base game works, you'd think the translated game would work. If anyone sees this, please try the unaltered MSX VC Metal Gear games and let us know for the list!

is your neek video mode identical to your NAND one?
some old VC console might only with with specific video mode (480i, or 4:3)

I believe so. I decided just to set it to 4:3 because of the hassle of switching my tv around and figuring out which games stretch or require the change etc. As for the 480, I have it set to p. So that might be the issue. Though, when I press the "home" button on the remote, the black screen goes away and the wiimote menu pops up and i can see the game behind it. This is all the information I have. I have not tried to switch the game to 480i.

I just tried "force ntsc" but that didn't work. I noticed there is a "force ntsc 480p" so I assumed that woud be 480i. I also tried "disc default" and I tried each option with the game language set to "Japanese" instead of "console default". Didn't work.

Also, if I start going through the WiiWare games to test for you, how far into the game would you need me to go? Because if I just start it up, it might not work after like level 2 or something.

Monster Hunter Tri crashes when selecting "Begin the Game" with v8 base 57. It doesn't crash with v8 base 56. Can anyone confirm this?

Hi there

Loaded up wheel of furtune today and seeing some odd behaviour.

It will either not load up after you press the A button, on seeing the on screen prompt "Press A!"
or it will come up and tell me that my save game is currupt, but fails to delete the save data and thus loads up without the function to save your game.

When selecting a JAP region GC title, the title is correctly presented in Japanese, but the subtitle (internal game description) below it is shown in gibberish/incorrect font encoding. See the example attached or in this link: https://i.imgur.com/0BSCyxj.jpg

I updated everything including the language files but it did not make a difference. I'm using a JP region Wii. Am I missing a configuration or is this a bug?

Thanks for reporting it.
It's a bug in the "animated banner" code. few other games have that problem (castelvania)
I don't have the knowledge (yet) to fix that, I'm not the one who worked on that part of the loader.

It's not a very big issue, just play the game ;)
if the game has font issue, be sure to set the settings to "force japanese", but seeing you are on a japanese console it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for your response! Yes, it's not a big issue, though if fixed it would make this a perfect loader experience, very authentic. On GC when loading discs from the menu you can always see the game description before loading (see example attached). This is extra nice in Japanese because it can fit in more information in less space. So for instance in this one for Wind Waker it says something like: "In a peaceful island, a major incident [takes place]!? Now, Link's big adventure has begun once again!"

Well, maybe not the best example. Some games fit in a bit more, like Baten Kaitos for example: "Continents floating in the sky, wings of the heart, and a lost sea... across every peoples' hopes, the world's fate starts to turn." Pretty cool :D. Anyway, hopefully some day it can be fixed. So many people default to Wiiflow for its flashy presentation, but for me USB Loader GX is much better since it feels like an original Nintendo environment, and this is part of it.

Would it be worth reporting this as a bug on Sourceforge, or is it enough for you to take note of it here?

I'm the only last active dev on sourceforge, and I rarely look at the reports there.
I'm not very active anymore. I don't think I'll find time to fix that banner bug.
other developers are starting to fork the project and work on the loader more than me (blackb0x for example)

I don't know if he can look into that issue either.
I'm just saying sourceforge bug tracker is probably abandonned and if I work on the loader I will probably do small things I have in mind and not look at the bug tracker.
If I was more active, it would be useful to know "what other things has to be fixed".

IDK where this would fall under where the fault lies, but when I did the image download, Triforce Arcade's Mario Kart GP downloaded some Gundam looking banner. I could just go in and fix it easy enough. But I figured I'd mention it before it totally slipped my mind.

Just to clarify for whoever answers, are you saying you downloaded the banners from the tmp or whatever database and you don't like them and want different ones, or are you asking if there are banners besides the ones that come on the disc? Or are they one in the same?

As far as I'm aware, the only database is the one that is tied to usb loader by default. If these are hideous to you, there are tutorials for making your own out there, but I think that is the only extensive database.
