I've googled for hours and found nothing that's helped, so I'm posting my situation here.

For background, I have a PS Vita 2000, running Enso 3.60, SD2VITA (as ux0) and Adrenaline v6.9, the latest release. I use Adrenaline Bubbles Manager to organize my games and make them look nice.

Other PS1/PSP games I've tried work fine, save fine, CWcheat even works properly.

The one game that doesn't work properly is Chrono Cross. I thought at first it was a ROM issue, so I got completely new copies of the original discs, personally converted the .bins to a single eboot via psx2psp, and loaded it up. It works perfectly, plays fine. My girlfriend loves the game and played for a couple hours before bed, and saved.

Now though...the save doesn't show up. In fact it says there's no previously saved data, in either memory card. The folder for CC shows up under VitaShell (ux0: pspemu/PSP/SAVEDATA/SLUS01041) and that folder contains the usual config.bin, icon, param, and both SCEVMC0.VMP and SCEVMC1.VMP.

When opening Adrenaline directly and not through a bubble, it shows that there's CC save data. When I go into Adrenaline settings, my memory stick location is ux0: pspemu, and the usb device is memory card, like it is with my other PS1 games. For whatever reason it seems that using bubbles created by the ABM somehow stops the memory card utility in Official Settings from working, but in other games (Legend of Dragoon and FF7) the save/load still works just fine. But Chrono Cross refuses to find save data.

I've scoured the internet, and Google can't find any reference at all to "cannot access the virtual memory card." which is what shows up when you use the memory card utility in official settings after starting from a bubble.

After starting Adrenaline directly, and starting the game, it still says there's no previously saved data. Opening the memory card utility works, but shows zero data. I'm super confused, ya'll.

While it's true I could just tell her to use save states instead of just saving, it's the principle of the thing. One specific game doesn't work right.

To make things stranger, I started a new game, and used CWcheat to activate the 'save anywhere' feature, saved, quit. Starting the game through adrenaline or the bubble now both show that save file I just made. So...what happened to her save? I did copy the savedata file as a backup, and the sizes are identical, so there's data there.

Any insight you can offer will be appreciated.

This is a shot in the dark, but try renaming the folder from SLUS01041 to SLUS01080. I'm pretty sure this was still an issue on PSP. There's also a chance that it crashes during the Mama Komodo fight on disk 1. Multi-disk PS1 eboots never played nice on PSP. I recommend using the official PSOne Classic (NPUJ-01041).

I've installed the PSOne classic version, hopefully it doesn't hang. I still have no idea what actually happened to the original save. Nor why utilizing the Adrenaline Bubble Manager-created bubbles disables Adrenaline's memory card manager in the Official Settings, but we'll see how it goes. If nothing else she can use save states.

After you load a savestate, when you save in-game, it actually doesn't save onto the virtual memory card.. it saves into the virtual memory card inside the savestate.

The only way to access that save is through the savestate now, though you can export it.

Use cwcheats to export the memory card from the save state, reload the game and import it via cwcheats again.

found this out myself wondering when I was playing xenogears, and noticed I've lost 20hrs of gameplay. had a 50hrs save, and couldn't for the life of me find it, except for this 30hrs save present on the memory card. Then loaded up the savestate, bam the memorycard is showing my 50hrs save..

so maybe this is the same case?

Likely not, since it's my Vita and she doesn't know anything about them. She expressed her like of the game so I dug my Vita out and got her the game. She doesn't know how to use the Adrenaline menu, except the bits to exit the game when she wants, so she used in-game saving instead of save states, so I'm fairly certain that isn't the issue.
