ah sorry I forgot about emuNAND.
so let me quote that part.

I made an empty NAND with ModMii, but the instructions told me to move it to the SD card afterward, and I specifically wanted it to be in the USB as there wasn't enough space inside the SD for all the wads. I dumped the NAND with USB Loader afterward, and the wads are in a similar state to the Wii games, despite the ones I've tested so far working perfectly fine when installed in the system menu. Would it work if I move this empty NAND to the folder of the dumped NAND, replacing it entirely?
the emuNAND folder itself can be place anywhere. it's a "copy of a console's internal structure".
What must be either on SD or USB but not mixed is in case you made "neek" too.
neek is a different method to do emuNAND.
Sneek is neek with emuNAND on SD
Uneek is neek with emuNAND on USB.
the emuNAND folder is still movable, but the "sd:/sneek/ folder must not be mixed. it contains either the SD version or the USB version, but they both are named the same : kernel.bin ! there's no way to know which version you have.

But for now, you don't need neek !

So, I suggest this :

1. Delete your existing emuNAND folders. (you shouldn't need them if it's not even working)
2. go to USBLoaderGX, settings, user path, emuNAND Channel : change the path from sd:/nands/01/ to usb1:/nands/nand1/ (or whatever path you want, just don't make it too long, with space or special character in path)
3. go to USBLoaderGX, settings, features, dump NAND, full, to NAND channel path (it should ask you, because both channel and savegame path are different, unless you changed both because you ALSO want to save games to that same emuNAND folder)
Remember that emuNAND save don't need a NAND dump first if you only use "partial" redirection. the loader will only look at the savegame file and don't care whether you have a full dump or not.
4. go to USBLoaderGX, main window, top menu, 4th icon, enable "channels on emuNAND", be sure to disable "channel on NAND" to display only emuNAND content.
5. Launch one of the existing channels ! (a game for example? did you have a VC or Wiiware already installed on NAND, which should then be located on emuNAND now)

Tell me if it works that way.
existing channels should work.

Then you'll have to add new channels (from wad) using USBLoaderGX > settings > Features > Wad manager

I think I might know what's going erong: tge tutorial I followed told me to change the file path to something like 'emunand channel folder', so I named it just that. Now I see that the spaces might be messing it up. I'll try it out when I get home. Thanks again.

yeah, that's not the name of the folder you should use, but the path to the folder where your emuNAND channel is located!
you have to locate (or choose/create one) the path that you want the emuNAND to be dump to.

I have a Wii that i got from a friend it was working fine with a few discs that has given with it. now the discs have wear off and my kids are no longer able to play with discs.
I tried to softmod from tutorials on youtube.
Here is what i have done so far and the problem i am facing.
I installed homebrew(changing DNS setting in network options and going to EULA -without using the SD card).
i have installed d2x-cios installer and USB loadergx r1271

i am using my 32 gig usb drive to dump games,
when i open using USB loader i am able to see three games but when i try load the screen goes blank. and i have to restart the machine.
can you help me on this.

P.S: my Wii is not recognizing SD card so i am not able to paste the wii sysinfo here (i copied sysinfo to my apps and ran it on my Wii but i was not able to copy the result back on usb drive.

Hello.:)

Welcome to the Wii Section.:yaywii:

Nice to see the str2hax Exploit is still working.

Unfortunately SAVE to USB is not supported with the sysCheck Application.
https://gbatemp.net/threads/posting-a-system-check.300279/

Extract the contents of SysCheckHDE.zip to the apps folder on your SD card (USB is not supported for saving the SysCheck).

You can make a Screenshot with (maybe with a Smartphone or Digital Camera) and post it please.

If you used this Guide then you have maybe done all correct.:)

i am using my 32 gig usb drive to dump games,

It sounds you using a USB Stick/Thumb Drive/Flash Drive.

This maybe could be a possible Reason why your Wii Games boots into Black Screens.
Is it connected to Port 0 please ?
index.jpg
How is it formatted please ?

Did you use the WiiBackup Manager for your Games Transfer to your USB Device ?

Thank you.:)

Thank you for very quick response.
I was doing some r&d right now and stumbled upon will backup manager. i tried to transfer two games that were not working earlier and one of them worked.. actually booted and i was able to play.
Now coming to the disappointing part: I have downloaded from a site and wii backup manager is not recognizing those files. extension of those files are dotisodotdec (i am not able to tyoe this correctly because of low post count)
when i tried to remove dotdec, it still isnt recognizing.

This Files have to be "unscrubbed" as the Specialist would say.
You need the Tool NASOSbeta1 (Not another Scrubber Or Shrinker) to get it into the correct ISO Format.

Good Luck.:)

I didn't know nasos,

are you sure .iso.dec are scrubbed? it seems that tool worked (reddit) but unsure if it's really scrubbed

I found 1.8 https://archive.org/details/nNASOS1.8
but changelog doesn't talk about scrub, it mention gcm (gamecube?)

I thought about scrambled/unscrambled, but I don't see why "scrubbed" would be a problem.
WBFS format IS a scrubbed ISO (ISO with deleted unused sectors to make it smaller), end user usually want scrubbed iso. they don't want to unscrub them.
Maybe it's scrubbing iso into a new different format than what Wiimm created? why not use wia ?

WIT usually can work with all known format.

The Game(s) are for sure from archive.org and they have Wii Games because of "Preserving".
They use this Format, maybe to get rid of "Mass downloading" Users who have no Idea, which Format this is and how to use it on an modded Wii.By the Way,who can read, will notice the "Manual" how to "use" it on Channels Page.

Hello Alex and Cyan,
First of all i would like to say a big thank you to you.
Finally i was able to play games and my both daughters are happy. so Thanks a lot.
Here is what i did.
I downloaded a few sports games online, they were in .iso.dec format, after your suggestion i run them through Nasosbeta1 ( it took a long time). After that i run them through Wii Bakup manager and converted iso into wbfs. and then i copied only the game file into the USB drive under wbfs folder.
And voila!! no black screen and i am able to play games.

Thank you very much again and God Bless.

WiiBackupManager can do that step for you, and rename/copy the game directly to your USB.
doing it manually works, but you always have a risk of doing something wrong.

info how to use WBM:

I started upgrading my NAND drives from USB Sticks to M.2 in USB Enclosure.
Something like in the attached pic.

My position on recommending USB Sticks has changed since then.
Its not that they suck or dont work, but there is no reason anymore to use inferior NAND Flash (USBStick) instead of superior NAND Flash (SSD).
The cost has come down, so that the situation is like this now:
Sandisk 3.1 USB Stick 256GB = 30€
M.2 SSD 256GB + Enclosure = 36€ + 12€ = 48

While having peace of mind that this SSD will run practically forever (years++++).

It still offers the sliq design of just having a no-moving-parts stick on the back of the WII, no noise, and little space used.
I think thats currently the best design.
Also the 500gb (70€) or 1tb (120€) is is also very reasonable to consider.

I'm having some problems related to playing Wii games in USB Loader GX (latest version). Every time I try to load a Wii game, the loader shows a permanent black screen which requires a restart of the console. The hard drive is being read and the games show up just like they normally would, but they don't run. The HDD is connected to the bottom (equals left in a vertical console position) USB port on the Wii.

I've tried to install the games on the HDD (Smash Bros. Brawl amongst others) using retail disks in USB Loader GX, which created a wbfs folder on the root of the hard drive. Wii Backup Manager verifies the .wbfs files inside that folder without hassle.

I'm using the same partition for my Gamecube games (32k cluster size), which all work just fine. This a specific issue for the Wii games. The same game files have previously worked using a WBFS formatted partition through WBFS manager. USB Loader GX is the only loader I've tried.

Any insight regarding the matter is appreciated!

I have the same issue but with a few differences. I am using a flashdrive instead of a HDD and it is formatted to FAT32 with no other partitions. THE THING IS earlier yesterday Wii games were playing fine (after taking a minute or two to load), but then suddenly stopped working the same day WITHOUT CHANGING ANY SETTINGS. When I play thim, i'm left at a black screen until I restart the console. Again, gamecube games work fine. I installed my Homebrew following the Wii.Guide site, and tried reinstalling the cIOS as wii.guide instructs. Also, I have USBLoaderGX on default settings. Loader cIOS is 58, game cIOS is 249.

I am sorry to hear, you are another USB Stick Victim.:(

It is a known Issue.
The Wii Community here warned about his Behavior many Times.
Your suddenly happened Issue is the Reason, why USB Sticks/Flash Drives/Pen Drives/Thumb Drives are NOT recommended for the USB Loaders. It has to do with the Write Mode. For Example download Covers or Dump Games.
Reading is not the Problem with this Devices. They stop working WITHOUT Warning.:(

We know that some Types/Brands could work fine. But it is simply not a RELIABLE Device.
@Cyan said it a many Times before,to not use it and to use HDDs (with Power supply) instead.

You can maybe try to re-format it on the PC and make some read/write Operations.Maybe it works again.:)

Good Luck
Thank you.:)

Can this really be an issue just with a regular USB HDD?
Mine was working fine yesterday and then I turned it on today and it detected the HDD but wouldn't load games....now it's not even detecting the HDD...it's like the problem is getting worse over time...Also haven't changed any settings but I also don't want to just take a chance on buying another random HDD to encounter the same problem...what do?

How is your HDD formatted please ?
Is the HDD still recognized from your PC ?

For your Question,it can happen,of course, but it has nothing to do with the USBLoader.
It is a very, very bad Timing, but yes,a HDD can stop working from one second to another.:(
This is not so common like with the USB Sticks and his Brothers.

Thank you.:)

My USB HDD is formatted to FAT32 using that fat32format gui program.
Worked fine until I put some Gamecube games on there...it downloaded the covers as normal for the Gamecube games then I tried to launch Super Mario Galaxy 2 (A game that I was playing last night) and it wouldn't load...reinstalled the CIOS beta 53 in the same slot (because my issue getting it working originally was a CIOS issue) and now it won't detect the HDD on the Wii...just times out on "Waiting for HDD device"

To clarify I did change some hacks in priiloader settings (The hacks_hash.ini file) and turned everything onto global and to block disc updates....but I have since changed them back and things still don't work. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

UPDATE:
I reinstalled both the CIOS on 249 and 250, and now it detects the HDD....but only picks up my GC games...Guess I'll try to Wii Back-up Manager everything again.
