Google is offering 2 months of Stadia Pro for free

Want to try out game streaming while you're in lockdown? No? Well, Google is offering a free trial for its Stadia Pro service anyway. Those that live in the 14 countries where Stadia is available can get two months of Stadia Pro, and 9 games to try out right off the bat. You have 48 hours to grab the free trial, if you're interested, and after your two months of membership, you'll be automatically enrolled in the $9.99/mo tier, though you can cancel that at any time. Those that are already paying for the service will also find that they won't be charged for the next two months. All you need to do is follow the source link, sign up for the trial, and get the Stadia app.

Normally, Google Stadia Pro users can play games at 4K resolution, but during this time, where more users than normal are at home and using online services, Google will be defaulting games to 1080p, but you can change this if you really want to, by going to data usage settings.

That's what is sad about this. They offer the service for "free", yet in order to play any games on it, you have to buy the games as well (and at a high price I imagine). So, you buy the games, play them, yadda yadda, but after the trial period ends, those games YOU bought get locked behind a paywall. This is why Nvidia's method is so much better, even if it is still kinda flawed. Buy games on Steam, uPlay, etc, and you can play them local on your computer or remotely on their servers for free with some limitations.
Huh?

Anyone who signs up will get two free months of Stadia Pro with instant access to nine games, including GRID, Destiny 2: The Collection, and Thumper. You can purchase even more games on the store, which will remain yours to play even if you cancel your Stadia Pro subscription.

Ok, I was wrong in that they have some games available for free during that period. But my mention of games you purchase that then get stuck behind a paywall is still true. They remain yours, in that you don't have to rebuy them, but after the period ends, you can't access them without a subscription.

Let me stream the games I paid for and maybe I won't hate Stadia. Oh wait, that'll never happen :creep:

Exactly what he said, you still have to pay for games, again, that you already bought. A game is $60, you should be able to play what you own on Stadia, not pay 60 bucks again

No thanks. Streaming games sucks. And 2 months for free and after that you have to pay for it ? Sorry, bad deal as well. And definitely bad streaming games. Not into it. I am stick with physical games only, thank you very much!
I'm not really interested in this, but if it's free, that's fine :)
Just complete whatever game it is you want within the 2 months... seems doable.
Then just remember to cancel in time.

AFAIK, the free games with pro can't be used once the period is over. The free tier allows you to purchase and keep games to play at 1080p/60? The information is a mess.

I understand what you are saying but sometimes people dont mind having a gaming version of netflix (I'm not saying g Stadia is good) But it's a good start. My xbox one I only own like 4 games and the rest are via gold or Gamepass it do sucks that they delist games but that's how the business is.

IMO I dont mind cloud gaming along as the price is fair because that's what I'm doing with my Xbox one I mainly lease the games I dont own them. I end up saving in the long run VS buying new games
Indeed, a Netflix-like service for gaming is an alright idea, like PS Now or Xbox Gold or whatever it is called, as it is not a replacement but instead it complements your PC/console's library and doesn't expect you to pay for the service and then buy the games again.
The only way Stadia could get viable is by doing akin to GeForce Now's "virtual PCs", instead of trying to be a console/platform but on cloud.

STEP 1 : Release a mediocre service and tout it as revolutionary
STEP 2 : Tell everyone they need to re-buy all their games to use said service
STEP 3 : Start throwing money around to publishers to get them to pull out of viable better fairer alternatives
STEP 4 : wait for the money to come pouring in
STEP 5 : Keep waiting.........
STEP 6 : Give them their first hit for free, and you will have them hooked in no time
STEP 7 : Keep waiting.....
STEP 8 : Announce the discontinuation of the service

Yeah people need to read carefully.

This is actually Stadia going fully free as was promised all along. You have to buy games, and you are limited to 1080p/60, but you have them for the lifetime of the service, without having to pay any monthly fee.

On top of that, they are also offering 2 free months of stadia pro as a trial. That will get you access to those 9 games and 4k streaming as long as you remain a pro member, which you will have to pay for after 2 months. But if you let that expire, you can still play individually purchased games at 1080p indefinitely.

Well, I knew I wasn't supposed to expect much but holy shit have I been let down. I tried playing Grid, but the Resolution was horendous. And the input would either randomly drop out or have seconds (!) of input latency.

That are 10 minutes of my life I want back...
