Until I see some lines of code that make flycast purposefully not work on SX I'm gonna simply call this what it is: bullshit.
Just like in the past when it was said that the earth was a sphere. No chance to "show" so they didn't believe.
Ok, I can't believe that it's made on purpose, RetroArch is the most complex emu, so no problem at all.
And DC emu pushes the Switch to hard anyway, I prefer it on PC. But I like to test out what the Switch is able to.

I tried metal slug cue+bin and the cd-audio plays fine during game.
Which game are you trying?

So you used a bin including the audio tracks?
I tried that with Crossed Swords 2 and use of core NeoCD. Game works but no cd-audio is played.
I read that mp3 files are not supported so I tried it with ogg and adjusted the cue, but here I get the error "Failed to load content".

Metal slug has separate bin files for all audio tracks.
I tried Crossed Swords 2 with .cue and .img (all audio tracks in the img file) and the audio track plays correctly.

I also tried magical drop 2 with a single bin file and audio tracks play fine as well.
I am using 000-lo.lo, and neocd.bin in neocd bios folder.

Ok, so alle audio file to bin. Are the source audio files oggs or mp3? Or how have you build an iso with multiple bin files?
I have the correct 000-lo.lo and neocd.bin in system\neocd aswell.
Could you show your Crossed Swords 2 cue please ?

The images are 1:1 truerips. I don't think the core accepts binary mixed with audio tracks.

The images are 1:1 truerips. I don't think the core accepts binary mixed with audio tracks.
I'll just try different iso types.

NeoCD accepts as input a cue sheet file (CUE) or a MAME CHD file. CUE images can be either of "single file" type (CUE, BIN) or "multiple files" type (CUE,ISO,[WAV/FLAC/OGG]).

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.

    nvm it does support mine
