Hi Everyone new guy here and I'm in a bit of jam.

I first softmoded my WII back in 2008 played for a while and it went into storage.... fast forward 10 years or so I now have a 7 year old that wants to play with daddy and with the quarantine and all I whipped out my old Wii what a perfect game I thought.

We played a couple of games through Wiiflow on cIOS 249 and there where no problems until we tried to play lego Star Wars the second Nunchuck didn't work at all. I thought it had a problem but tested it with other games and no issue. then came Lego Indiana Jones at first everything was ok then the whole second remote stopped working then back then not. I tried re-syncing my remotes but no go.

So I spent 3 days on the internet looking for a solution. Updated cIOS 249 and 250 to the latest d2x didnt work, changed my loader to the latest USBloaderGx still a problem. tried re-syncing my remotes again but still no.

Both remotes and nunchuck work flawlessly on some games (disc or usb) and one works in both lego games with both nunchuck while the other doesn't.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Post a Syscheck. The "latest" d2x CIOS isn't necessarily the best. You should install v8-final or v10 beta 52 (Ideally with base 57 to slot 249 and base 56 to slot 250). The latest is v10 beta 53 and isn't as good as v8 final (which is the same as v10 beta 52).

What format is your HDD?

ModMii is your friend. It can help make sure you are set up with the typical/recommended environment in terms of softmods. Once there we will be able to compare apples to apples your results versus normal/typical results.

My HDD is still in WBFS format (from 2008) I have installed the V10 beta 52 base 56 in slot 249 and 57 in slot 250 but I'll post a sys check later.

Thanks

Edit: @XFlak Seems your Mod mii links are inactive

249/56 and 250/57 are fine too, you don't need to reinstall or replace anything. just set your loader's setting to the slot you want to use based on the "IOS base" you need.
some games need base57 (then set loader to slot250), for example Call of Duty, just dance, sing it, etc.
if your loader settings "game IOS" uses 249, try using 250 and see if it helps.

WBFS format is not a problem, even if old.
as long as it works, you can keep it. nowadays, FAT32 is recommended for new users, but if you don't need FAT32 (gamecube gaming) then no need to convert.
if you ever decide to convert to FAT32, you won't lose any games, look at "wbfs2fat" guide in my signature.

sorry, no help on the wiimote here.
I noticed my own wiimote are not working "right away" after 2-3 years of not using them. I need to remove/replace batteries few times, press buttons few times to make it react and power up. maybe oxidated circuit? but not the same issue you have, sorry.

wiimote issue are often due to non official brand (not nintendo but third parties), or old cIOS (rev19/20)

You're not on the latest homebrew channel, you don't have a patched system menu IOS, and I don't think you have priiloader installed. I don't think that correcting these issues will solve your wiimote issue, but I would still suggest using ModMii to update your mods. I will fix my links but in the meantime modmii is stickied here at gbatemp or just Google for it.

Oh and fat32 allows u to not only play gamecube games, but also launch homebrew saved from USB so you don't need an SD card to use a USB loader for example. Also fat32 is require for uneek (basically redirecting the memory from the internal nand to your USB instead). All this can be accomplished with modmii and more. But if you don't care for extra features than Cyan is right, nothing is wrong with wbfs, it's just inferior to fat32 these days.

Well I thought I was on the latest homebrew channel since the channel updated itself and tell me its up to date.

Gee it seems I have a lot of reading to catch up from 12years ago :O

I will probably transfert all my stuff to a new HDD and format it to fat32 my actual hdd is an 80gig drive that came from 2000 IBM computer 12 years ago I think I can retire it .

I'll give Modmii a try.

Edit:

The modmii site is down, until I get it back up you can still download it from the sourceforge download link.

Just google gbatemp modmii, in the first post it even says the site goes down often and so I've shared the download link to sourceforge.

I'll have a new site up soon

Got Modmii but I just saw that it wasn't working with WINE and I don't have a PC at hand, too bad it seemed like a neat app.

So after Buying 2 remotes from amazon and having my in-laws send me there official Wii remotes I can confirm that all exhibit the same behaviour. Only the first remote synced works as expected I am at a lost here.... that's 6 remotes all unsynced resynced multiple times.

sorry to hear that, and I can't help.
Maybe it's a bluetooth module hardware issue?
But I don't know why it's random, or in some games only.

you said it's "the second wiimote/nunchuk"
did you try to change the wiimote player order from the game's home menu? see if it's still the "second player" or if it's the same wiimote who didn't work and still doesn't? or same nuchuk or same combination of wiimote+nun, etc.
