PlayStation is offering automatic refunds for those who digitally pre-ordered The Last of Us Part II

RKpmT3o9neemmMrNu5MFSm-1200-80.jpg

If you pre-ordered either The Last of Us Part II and Iron Man VR digitally, your pre-order no longer exists. Those who purchased either game will automatically be refunded, as the official PSN pre-order pages for both games have now been taken down. Prior to the indefinite delay announcement, TLOU Part II was scheduled for release on May 29th, while Iron Man VR was set for May 2020.

The Last of Us Part II and Iron Man VR have been delayed. All digital pre-order consumers will automatically receive a refund. Please check your email for more details.

Inb4 canceled the release of the game.

But I do not like the smell of this one, it smells too fishy and scary for people who've wanted this game for so long.
If you've kept up with recent news, things getting seriously delayed should not come as a surprise. The refund is just a nice gesture to those who spent money and won't see their game anywhere in the near future.

Getting a bit worried here. I know COVID-19 has delayed a lot of things but there is still no public showing of the PS5. All those reports of things happening backstage in Sony and the recent rumours about PS5 potentially overheating makes me think that more delays with 1st party games are expected.

Mark my words..... PS5 launch title. Remember the :"The Last Guardian"?*. What has it common, the "last" in it.

Please..... UNDERSTAND!

Im seriously tired of all this BS what is happening to the whole gaming community in the last decade.... all the exclusives sh** for specific console (same game) and what not, and yet they say: "same experience", "we care about our fans, not just about money"

Wow, no pre-order refunds on digital items normally? And people pay for digital still? Amazing.
Actually, that's wrong, Sony absolutely allows you to refund digital pre-orders, as does everyone else (except for ass-backwards Nintendo, they're the only ones that don't let you refund preorders).

Chary just doesn't do research when making news ;O;O;O;O;O;O;

As to the news, that's kinda dumb. I feel like that should just be an opt-in thing, there's no reason to force everyone to get a refund.

Playstation allows refunds. I got Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 refunded because it didn't have an English voice dub.

They appear to not offer refunds when pre-ordering within 2 weeks of release. OP was based off my experience of preordering FF7R, where it specifically had a statement saying my pre-order on PSN would be unable to be refunded after confirming. Looks like refunds are allowed on games beyond that window.

That's still wrong :P

If you pre-order the game and it's within 2 weeks or release, you have 14 days after your purchase date that you can still refund the pre-order (so long as you don't download it after release).

ie. If I preorder Blah Blah 12 that comes out on April 10th today, I have until April 21st to refund it (unless you download the game)

Still really odd, because when purchasing the game, I know for a fact I went through a dialogue box on my PS4 telling me I could only refund the purchase if I was in "select regions" aka the state of CA. I know because I balked at it to my boyfriend who was watching the screen at the time lol. Shoulda taken a screencap when I could have. Really weird, though! I suppose their support page is the end all be all, but still, bizarre. Anyway, OP's edited to reflect that.

edit: wait, maybe it was because I used paypal? the support page mentions "certain" payments cant be refunded to the og source and turn into PSN wallet cash, so maybe that's what it meant.
