Hacking Question Help with going online and cfw

i used hekate+atmosphere to run cfw on my switch. I was a noob at the start. So when i loaded hekate and hit "launch" it showed 3 options to launch: sysnand (cfw), emmunand (cfw), and stock. First time I hit sysnand (cfw) but wasn't able to load homebrew by hitting the "album" button. Also, when i went to the system info it showed regular firmware 3.0.1 and not like 3.0.1atm(or w/e the atmosphere firmware shows). I believe when I was on 3.0.1 firmware it could not read the exFat SD card. I connected to the wifi to update to fw 9.2.0 while on the sysnand(cfw) launcher. Will nintendo detect cfw if i never accessed the homebrew menu but connected online?

I created a emunand cfw now and installed all my homebrew stuff on there. I have a backed up sysnand from before i started all this. Have a few questions on this:

1. Can i restore my sysnand and log into my nintendo account to transfer save data from a different non cfw switch?
2. if i restore the sysnand do i have to redo the emunand partition and reinstall my NSPs? Will restoring sysnand erase the whole emunand save data, etc?

First i'd like to say you didn't need to make 2 posts minutes apart asking the same thing. help will come when it gets to you. as for your questions:

1. yes but the transfer should have been the first thing you did. that said if you roll back to a premodded save you should be safe regardless unless of course your save files were modified.

2. You do have the emunand on sd card right? cause that would make this question not applicable. now if you did put on your emmc then that's a big oof and well yes you'd have to do everything if you rolled back the sysnand.

From what i'm reading you put the cfw on your sysnand and if that is true I would highly recommend you apply it to the sd card instead to further protect your switch from bans and potential bricks.

As for the cfw:

1. Yeah i was not aware and made the mistake of not doing so first ;(

2. Not sure what exactly would be considered having emunand on sd card. I followed a tutorial to do the sd card partitioning and enable emunand. At this point I have a for sure clean nand backup at fw 3.0.1. I had to update to fw 9.2.0 as i was having a lot of issues with the homebrew loading at such an old fw. I was not able to get the chou nx tool to run so i burned a efuse as well. Would it be best to just restore to the 3.0.1 fw and redo the whole cfw partitioning?

3. Right now i am running cfw on emunand. But when i first loaded hekate and did launch I ran "launch sysnand (cfw)" which kinda worries me. My main goal is to get a clean sysnand and cfw emunand so i can have the option to go online and have cfw. Any recommendations on best way to do this? Maybe just restore and restart from clean slate?

Other main concern is if I ran hekate and launched cfw on sysnand but never was able to open homebrew menu thru album, and connected to the internet, will my switch get banned? thanks

your emunand should have been fine on your lower firmware. that problem was fixed with newer cfw and it's what i've been using since november. nobody knows what exactly would set off a ban from nintendo yet but generally the best practice is to not leave the modified tasks on your system nand or go online with your cfw and modified saves.

If you have a sysnand from before the update you did DO NOT USE IT! that's an easy brick. your best bet would be to do a factory reset if you wanted to start from scratch with your sysnand imo.

My switch is on the latest software update and has never been hacked. According to its serial number it is an unpatched switch. Now I am thinking of putting CFW on it so I can pirate ROM's on Emunand. If I never enter CFW systemNAND will I still be able to go into my system nand and play the games I bought online like Mario Kart or Fortnite, and leave the emunand for playing offline pirated games like BOW?
