Hi all, Im pretty desperate atm lol. Just bought Animal Crossing the day it came out. Hadnt turned my switch on for a few months prior to that. Played animal crossing for about 3 hours then went to sleep. Woke up and my wife was playing. My daughter tried to switch profiles to play on her account then the switch got an error code (wife or daughter didnt bother to write it down) and the switch restarted and ever since has been stuck in the bootloop on the nintendo switch logo. I have never used any 3rd party hardware at all. I use the original charger and dock that came with the switch when i purchased it from walmart. I tried everything and nothing works. I drained the battery completely multiple times nothing. I tried RCM and that doesnt even load it just stays on the logo screen. I tried safe mode and after the initial nintendo when you first turn on it goes black screen then turns itself off. I opened up the switch and checked chips and ICs known to be issues and everything checked out. I even bought a new battery thinking i killed mine after not using it for months, still nothing. Only thing i havent checked was the wifi chip becuase i dont want to unplug any of the ribbon cables. I called Nintendo and they said they would fix it for $100 but there are no foreseeable repairs in the future due to the coronavirus. Im at witsend with this system lol. Any suggestions on how to fix would be greatly appreciated. Can I reflash the OS im thinking this might be a software failure? I dont want to hack the system because I play online with it. I just want to fix it. Can I load Hetake onto it and back up my NAND and Keys and restore the system? I know im rambling at this point but like i said im out of ideas and options. I have read and read and read and most problems are all for people bricking their systems with 3rd party software or messing up a hack. Not much info out there for systems like mine. Again any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, it sounds like you are in the exact same boat I was in. I would recommend you try to boot Ubuntu and check if WiFi and/or Bluetooth is working there. It won't modify your nand as it runs of the SD card. You can back up your nand for good measure in hekate too, it's always good to have it!

So I think my switch is patched I get it to boot in RCM but tegra doesnt recognize it . So I guess I'm just stuck with a forever boot loading switch until the virus goes away and I can pay nintendo to fix this apparent common issue.

Ah shoot, if you had a hot air station and it was indeed the wifi chip you could first try just reheating it and see if that makes a difference, or if not replace it with a chip from a donor board.

Ok so it took forever because of the virus, but I finally received my voltage tester in the mail. When I plug it into the switch I get the normal 0.46a charging but when its supposed to jump for fast charging I only get 0.75-0.84a and i know that fast charging is supposed to be 1.15a. does this indicate it's because of one of the battery/charging chips?

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

It was like all clear and fancy. Tbf I'm not too experienced with chess, but would like to learn someday.
