Atari faces lawsuit against Tin Giant over not paying for six months worth of work on the Atari VCS

Atari appears to be facing a lawsuit, after allegedly not paying for over $250,000 dollars worth of work done for their crowdfunded Atari VCS system. Rob Wyatt, system architect for the original Xbox and designer for the PlayStation 3's graphical system, has filed against Atari for both defamation and breach of contract over his company, Tin Giant. Wyatt had previously quit working on the Atari VCS back in October of 2019, stating that he and his team had not been paid a previously agreed-upon amount of $261,720 for designing the VCS system.

The Atari VCS was originally announced as the Ataribox in 2017--a living-room PC that would run on a Linux OS, allowing users to play games, watch videos, or even "develop TV-based games and apps for yourself, your family, or to share". The project would go on to be delayed multiple times, after missing its original Q2 2019 launch window. Over 3 million dollars was raised for the Atari VCS, through crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.

Wyatt also claims that he and his team were wrongly blamed for the delay of the system, with Atari saying Tin Giant pushed the project back, when it was allegedly "Atari's own mismanagement that was the cause of or reason for the delayed launch". Atari currently has not yet commented on the matter.

Contrary to this the SEGA Genesis Mini seems to be doing quite well.

I know we had some in stock still at my store!

Too bad my RPi4, my hacked Switch, my ODroid XU4, and everything else destroys the appeal of the thing for me outside of the new totally radical and tubular new single from Yuzo Koshiro that is the menu theme!

(srsly tho, that game selection's much better than what NSO is offering atm. Maybe if SEGA could pull off a Second Coming...)

...Somewhere in the Arizona desert, a massive hole is dug. Then, a dump truck with all of the unsold Atari VCSes come and dump them into the hole, which is then promptly covered.

Atari, Phone Home! Tell them that the job has been done! :rofl2:
not producing the console is simply a cost cutting exercise to save on the costs of digging a hole

I can't buy it due to being stuck at home without work - -. Gotta save money since I have no clue when the quarantine will end.
