Does anyone know what is this component D20 in circle? How do you call it or a part number?

There is the same at the other pcb side with code D18.

Does the D20 connects with the empty D21 location at the other side? (pass thru)

I don't have one to check on here but D normally stands for diode, and will include the light emitting (as in LED) variety.

They have various jobs, though normally it is as a one way valve for current. This means that while your probe might have a diode check (very often on the same function as the continuity test) if you want to check its resistance one way and then the other then one should be really high and the other low.

Yes I guess is a diode, but I want to order new ones to fix my pcb. I had no luck to find any so far.

So, if they are useless, why then my controller will not sync without a usb cable? The pads from D20 are gone, do I need to bridge it?

Sorry, I don’t know. You could ask on the Acid Mods forum - they have several threads on XB1 controller PCBs, and the thread I linked to was from March 2020, so hopefully there will be people responding there who know more.

If they’re right and they are LEDs for Kinect, and later models don’t have a component soldered there, it doesn’t seem likely that it would be the cause of your problem. If the solder pads there are damaged, could other parts of the board (e.g. the wireless transmitter) also be damaged?
