You will need to create config (.ini) files for them. HID-Test (PC utility, also available on Wii U, I’ve had better results with the nightly version than the latest stable one) will let you find out which byte corresponds to which button: https://github.com/Maschell/HIDtoVPADNetworkClient

You can get an existing config file to edit at: https://github.com/Maschell/controller_patcher_configs

If you are able to see the files inside the jar, you probably don't have Java installed. You can get it from https://www.java.com/en/download/help/download_options.xml.

Once you've installed it, you should just be able to double click on the jar file, and telling Windows to open it with 'Java(TM) Platform SE Binary'. This will bring up Command Prompt. The bottom line shows the VID & PID and a long string of hexadecimal numbers (digits 0-9 & letters a-f). Mine read:

68 FF 85 78 00 00 00 00
which are positions
00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07.

The 'positions' line I added gives the first of the pair of numbers on each line the config file, and the line shown in the window gives you the value to put in the second of the pair (e.g. I moved the left stick a bit left and fully up, so 0x00 changed from its centred value of 0x80 to 0x68, and 0x01 changed from 0x80 to 0xFF). The exception is the range values for the stick, where the pair of numbers are the min & max values, with the location of those values being the same as the line above, where the centred value was given. The second half of the long string is all 0s because I wasn't holding any of the ABXY &c. when I took the screenshot.

You can find more explanation at https://github.com/Maschell/controller_patcher/wiki - let me know if you get stuck.

Welp I ran into a problem

Which version did you download? I found today that I hadn't got Java installed under Windows, so installed it using the Offline installers (i.e. it downloads everything you need at once, rather than the online one where the installer is very small and downloads all the bits it needs when you run it). They were exe files rather than msi.

I have no idea what this means.

That ‘Exception in thread 1’ error may be the problem I had with the stable version that led me to try, and to recommend you, the nightly version, but I am not totally sure.

About half way down the left hand window it says ‘This error can be fixed’, tells you to install the Visual C++ redistributables and gives you a link to Microsoft’s website for them. Hopefully this will fix the problem?

Hmm, not sure. The program is now notionally working, but not detecting the controllers. Did you plug in the controller before opening the program? You could confirm whether it’s actually working by connecting a known detectable controller e.g. Xbox One. But this doesn’t necessarily solve your current problem.

You could also try https://gbatemp.net/threads/wip-nin...ate-controller-ini-files-effortlessly.447303/, which is a program for generating the config files.
