Hi all. I have a unopened launch OG 3DS. I want to hack it and add homebrew, but I don't want to buy a flash cart. From what I understand I an do this through the browser correct? However does stock firmware doesn't come with a browser. I have a few 3DS games that potentially can have an old firmware with the browser. Can someone help me out? Thanks

if your console is under 11.2 then yes it will be sound hax.
Hmm, according to the guide updating from 1.0.0 to 3.0.0 (by using my Kid Icarus cart for example)

"Note that cartridge updates will only deliver updates to core features, such as the System Settings, Home Menu, etc. cartridge updates will not deliver updates to Nintendo 3DS Sound and Network features, such as System Transfer, Internet Browser, StreetPass Mii Plaza, or eShop. This means that using a cartridge update from a version containing an older Nintendo 3DS Sound version (<3.0.0) to one that introduced a newer Nintendo 3DS Sound version will break Soundhax! You will need an alternate method of entering the Homebrew Launcher such as Installing boot9strap (Browser) or Installing boot9strap (MSET)!"

So since I'm currently at firmware 1.0.0 does this mean I can't use soundhax by first updating using Kid Icarus then following the guide?

I can't seem to get it to work. the soundhax file can't "play" cuz of the -0U. I'm on 7.1.0.-0U now, Can I just update to latest and use the seedminer exploit?

Sadly cartridge updates won't work for getting browser and/or sound app updated. Only online updates do this. You can see this by looking at the last digit 7.1.0-0U. It has not been increased by cartridge updates. This leaves:
  • Online update to latest version → Seedminer
  • ntrboot
Good luck and have fun!

Hi, I have a DSi XL (cfw) and tomorrow my new 3ds xl will arrive so I have a question - is there a reason to play DS games on 3DS if you own DS?

basically convenience of not needing to switch between the two. Also if your one that needs to have the activity log log every hour played, then the 3ds will be what ya wanna play on. Plus its a second console to play on when one is outta battery power.

Downsides on the 3DS:
  • Different resolution makes the image of DS games look blurry.
  • Battery life on low brightness settings is way better on DS(i) systems.

But there is this:https://gbatemp.net/threads/twpatcher-ds-i-mode-screen-filters-and-patches.542694/ including the possibility for widescreen patches. If you are interested in that the 3DS has to offer something older models don't.
========

I really like the screens of the DSi XL. For me it is the preferred console for DS games.

There is improvement when coming from a DS-(Phat|Lite): The DSi enhanced games profit from the faster ARM9 CPU speed and more RAM.

Have fun!

Thank you,I would write the Same, but I was not sure if it was not me.
I wear Glasses and my Eyes are not the Best (Great....and such Guy gives Advises and Recommendations...:P).

A very good Reason for your New3DSXL is playing near all DS(i) Games with @Robz8 ´s excellent TWiLight Menu. You no longer need a Flashcard and so you can play (all) Nintendo´s Handheld (3DS/DS(i)/GameBoy/GameBoy Color Games and also included the excellent GameBoy Advanced "Emulation" with @Gericom ´s awesome GBARunner.

Thank you.:)

Using Luma3DS now has been much better than Gateway 3DS. However I have not figured out a certain problem. I used to have multiple copies of a game e.g. EU / USA / MODDED version. So 3 versions of the same Game ID title. I just put the .3ds file into the SD and created seperate saves and stories. However.....

When I install a .cia file with the same game title it just overwrites it. How can It be possible to have the same game titles next to eachother. For example:

[Pokemon Y - EU] [Pokemon Y - USA] [Pokemon Wilting Y] [Pokemon Neo Y] So I don't have to rearaange the luma title folder everytime. Would be a big help thnx.

Noob question!

I have CFW and a game installed. The 3DS lets me know to update the game. When I click on the game and press Y to download and install the update file, I get error 009-1003. My region does not match the eShop region.

It is a second-hand 3DS. What can I do to change this back? Can I visit the eShop with CFW and check my region there?

Hello.:)

There is an Region Change Guide:
https://3ds.hacks.guide/region-changing.html

But maybe it will be easier to "search" for this Game Update (.cia) and install it with FBI.
I think.....

Thank you.:)

Well, my account is set to Dutch and I know the games are EU, so I am wondering why the eShop does not work. Is it set to something other than Europe for some reason?

I was wondering if I could take a look inside the eShop to check what its region is. But you do not recommend doing that?

Today I decided to be bold and just enter the eShop. Apparently, this second-hand 3DS used to belong to a Belgian since the eShop's country was set to Belgium.

Upon entering the eShop, it notified me straight away. It asked me to confirm the switch in country. After confirming but even before accepting the Terms of Service, I could update my game on the homescreen.
