Hi Forum,
due to the current #westayathome situation my family wished to reactivate our old Wii. So I build it up. I remembered to some problems while playing Wii Fit Plus and decided to update it in hope to get rid of this. I updated the now over 8 year old modded system with the current ModMii v6.5.1. This worked with no errors. Game is loaded from HDD.

But the problems are still there:
In Wii Fit Plus the balance board is working. I can do the daily tests without problems. But the application sometime freezes e.g. after exiting a training while in training overview. I can reproduce following:
- start training in the "obstacle course" (in german "Hindernisparcours")
- connect balance board (ok)
- step on it
- press "A" on warning "do not jump on balance board"
Now the screen turns white and nothing more happens. The last reaction is a blink of the HDD led. That's it.

I searched this forum for more or similar problems but found nothing that matches my problem.
I checked the integrity of the (self generated) image with WiiBackupManager (SHA-1) as found in an other thread.

My current system is the following.
sysCheck v2.1.0b19 von Double_A und R2-D2199, Nano

Thank a lot.

your system is good (you just updated it using modmii so you are good and up to date).

it could be something very simple, like the batteries of the balance board or the wiimote?
sometime games don't work if batteries are dead. is the balance board (and wiimote) still powered ?

is the wiimote an official nintendo brand?

It can be something a little more complicated and setting related.
Did you enable the "EmuNAND Save" option in the loader settings?
This is used to redirect savegame access from internal memory to external device, to save the savegame on SD or USB.
but some games don't work with that option. For example, Zelda Skyward Sword has the exact same symptom (random infinite white screen) when passing a door or loading a map.

You can try to change the IOS slot from 249 to 250.
your 249 uses "base57" (according to your syscheck, and this is what modmii does, it's good)
your 250 uses "base56"
some games work only with base56, some other only with base57. you have to change the slot to use for that game.
So, either globally in the loader's settings (affecting all games) : settings > loader's settings > Loader's IOS : 249 -> 250
either individually in the game's settings (affecting only one game) : select the game > options > game's options > IOS : use global -> 250

that's all I can think of for the moment.
If any of these suggestion helped, let me know so I can help more users next time.

Hi Cyan,
thanks for your reply. Here are the answers to your questions

is the wiimote an official nintendo brand?

I checked that at the moment one more time. I use (as always) eneloops for all Wii stuff. They weren't fresh loaded, but battery load inidactor gives 2/4 for the Wiimote and 3/4 for the balance board. And both are powered, yes.
All our Nintendo parts are official nintendo brand, yes. And our Wiimotes are extended with an Wiimotion attached permanently (since we bought it).

Did you enable the "EmuNAND Save" option in the loader settings?
This is used to redirect savegame access from internal memory to external device, to save the savegame on SD or USB.
No I did not enable this. I use the default settings in USB Loader GX and in the games (as far as I remeber). For Wii Fit Plus I reset setteings to defaults. Savegames go to Wii.

Addidionaly I testet for a corrupt savegame. I moved the WFP savegame from Wii to SD and started (the whole long running) introducing prodecure from WFP again to reach the start of the "obstacle course" again with a fresh clean new user. But the problem was the same. So I restored old savegame.

You can try to change the IOS slot from 249 to 250.
I tried this also, same problem. :(

Thanks.

are games without balance board working? it's only when using it?
do you have another game using the balance board? (raving rabbids, ikenie, etc.)
Do you have the official disc or a channel installed on sysmenu using the balance board ? to see if it works without usbloader/cIOS.
that way you could narrow the problem to the game itself, or the hardware, or the settings, etc.

That's the only solution I have for the moment, test everything to remove possibilities.

Have to test this (again) this evening and will reply here after that.

When playing WFP from our original disc it works without problems.

oh, good info!
so it's only when using USBLoader.

You should definitely try another game. maybe the cIOS is not installed correctly (very rare, I doubt it's the case here).
try another loader (wiiflow)? but I also doubt it's related to the loader, it's more something to do with the IOS or its base, but 56/57 are usually good for that game.

Thank you for doing more tests when you can.
I'll probably let other users help you next, as I've no more ideas.

@alexander1970 ! hehe, please, any ideas? I know you see things I forgot.

It is really Time for me to get a Balance Board (I do not know if it works for 120kg).:rofl2:

But I remember 1-2 Threads in the last Months where Users reported about Issues with the Balance Board and USB Loading.:(
Let me search a little please (Hey,I have to be in Raccoon City actual...:P).

Thank you.:)

I'm going to read/check this and leave a new notice here.

After the given todos from yesterday I did a lot of tests last evening. I tested with different (other) loaders: Wiiflow, two different CFG Loader versions and another USB Loader GX version (r1272 - I'm on r1271). But with no one the problem did solve. So I tried again to start WFP from CD and this worked as expected - no problems. We didn't try other games with balance board, but I did the following, because the last reaction before white screen freeze was the blink from USB HDD drive.
I moved the WFP folder on the HDD to an other folder and renamed all files. Now I backed up the disk again to HDD and tested again...

...and it works! :toot:

It seems, that the backup has an error, that WiiBackupManager (SHA-1)-Test did not recognise!? I cant't believe it!?
Thank a lot for the support or the right questions to solve this problem.

The only (other) fault I found while the tests was an freeze after quitting Mii-"Management" (how is it called?) after deleting some old Mii characters. When entering Wii system menu, it freezed.
