Hi

What is the easiest way to update my hacked 4.1.0 and to which firmware to update?
I have the unpatched switch with hekate 4.0 and sdfiles 8.1
Son wants a game that requires 8.0 or 8.1 I think
Thanks a lot!

I recommend the following steps:
  1. Make a NAND backup with Hekate if you haven't made one before. Store it somewhere safe.
  2. Remove all CFW files/folders from your SD card (that would be folders like /sept/ and /atmosphere/)
  3. Download the latest Atmosphere fork from here (includes all of the necessary patches)
  4. Download the latest fusee-primary (next to Atmosphere)
  5. Put Atmosphere and the signature patches onto your SD card
  6. Download the 9.2.0 update files and put the folder onto your SD card
  7. Download ChoiDujourNX and put it into the /switch/ folder on your SD card
  8. Put the SD into your Switch
  9. Launch Atmosphere using fusee-primary
  10. Run ChoiDujourNX from the homebrew launcher and update to 9.2.0. If your SD card is exFAT (not recommended), make sure you install exFAT support at the same time. If you do not want to use AutoRCM, make sure you disable it before the update.
  11. Reboot the system.

IiRC, FW v.4.1.0 supports caffein which is a warmboot, although rcm is better to use for some, it would be such a waste if you'll update such a good firmware. IMO, just create an emunand and update that one to the latest fw.

Install over USB, install over FTP, install over the internet using HBG, or split them. exFAT has a significantly higher likelihood of corruption due to how bad the exFAT drivers are. FAT32 is very highly recommended.

Follow this guide for setting up EmuMMC: https://nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/

Install them over USB.
in the guide under section "Partitioning the SD Card" using tegra explorer using "format for EmuMMC setup" option when done the main partition on the sd card is exfat. Do I now need to format it on a pc to fat32 leaving the other hidden partition as is? I did so but next in the guide at "Tap on Create emuMMC, then select SD Partition" it doesn't work: "failed to find applicable partition"

I reformatted the sd and tried again tegra explorer but it doesn't see/mount the sd card anymore, tried twice now
shows fine in settings in switch (normal boot) and on PC

*creating now emummc, I followed this guide just to create the 2 partitions on the SD card https://www.partitionwizard.com/partitionmagic/set-up-emummc-emunand-on-nitendo-switch.html

** all done, I can now go to emummc which is same version as sysmmc
How do I update now emummc without updating sysmmc?
Thehttps://nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/extras/updating/ guide is for updating sysmmc first

*** I just updated emummc using ChoiDujourNX
Now to find a guide to install games over usb :)

Just a suggestion, you can use ns-usbloader and Awoo-installer, they're both noob friendly. Both those files communicates with each other when used; ns-usbloader is a desktop app that will send the game file (nsp/nsz/xci/xcz) to your switch, and awoo installer will then install it.

thanks
all works now except I i found 3 nsps for maker 2 and none of them work with goldleaf and awoo
animal cr.. also doesn't work
both show corrupted data has been detected after installation
all other games I installed and tested (about 10) work fine
any idea? did I miss to add to sd card or install something to work with these newer games?
yoshi... a 2019 games, works fine

I just went through exact same process as OP due to Animal Crossing, and Goldleaf/Quark was giving me no end of troube. TThis setup though works really well.

Hi all
I tried today to update 9.2.0 cfw to 10.2.0
I updated atmosphere, hekate and I upgraded the cfw firmware to 10.2.0 using ChoiDujorNX
it was showing in settings/system current version correctly 10.2.0 AMS 0.15.0....
then I used sigpatch-updater.nro and not sure what happened, I can't see now the version in settings/system but I can access hekate config and hbmenu
sd card is exfat and I don't have an emu partition
any idea where I messed up or how to make it show in system settings 10.2.0 AMS 0.15.0 ?
also all games installed in 9.2.0 work fine but every time I open them it asks me "ready to start system update?"
thank you for your kind help

** I realised I have a downloaded firmware waiting to be installed... in recovery mode it says current system 10.2.0 AMS 0.15.0 S but not sure how I can delete the downloaded firmware so no more messages to install it when I open games

*** all good now, no more messages to update and system settings shows correctly now 10.2.0 AMS 0.15.0 S
