Hey guys! I was looking through some of the replies to this post (there's way too many replies to go through T . T ..) and, I want to know something about the villager swap. I saw @Lupe guide on how to switch villagers the correct way but that seems to only work if you have 10 villagers right? (assuming from the responses where they failed to get it to work under 10 villagers). I was wondering if it was possible to simply change the first two villagers given at the very start of the game without having an issue? I assume all the characters at the start get the same items but different colour tents and from what I've seen, we're only able to start with the listing of Uchi Villagers & Jock Villagers
Now this is what I really want to know, whether if it's possible to alter your starting results with a save editor, or better yet, have fixed results every time you start from a new save. Like I want my Island to have apples as my native fruit, blue as my airport color, and I don't really mind having to only choose from a pool of Uchi & Jock villagers, but I only want to see Paula and Sterling as my two starting villagers.
Any of this possible?

I encountered a similar bug.
Using NHSE, go to "Edit Received Items" and uncheck anything that involves the phone and the Nook Redeem feature that you haven't already unlocked. You have to naturally unlock those in game for now.

You'll look for the following:
"0x235C - Pocket Organization Guide"
Okay I gave this a try and it worked! You're a lifesaver!!!
If anyone else encounters this issue you might wanna do the above & also tick off:
0x2F99 - Custom Design Pro Editor
0x2B84 - Ultimate Pocket Stuffing
0x2590 - Tool Ring: It's Essential!
0x235A - Top 8 Cool Hairstyles
0x235B - Top 8 Stylish Hair Colors
0x2359 - Top 8 Pop Hairstyles
0xC03 - path construction permit
0xCAF - waterscaping permit

Wow, how did you do that?

Could you show me how to do it?

If you want to edit turnip price directly in your save file, the prices information are currently stored starting at the offset 0x412060 in main.dat file (but you need NHSE or other save editor: [1] to decrypt that file before you could make the change, and then after applying changes, [2] use it again to appropriately update checksum for the corresponding section as well as [3] to encrypt back such a file). And below is the cheat code for version 1.1.1 (it also works for version 1.1.1a).

Cheers

This is my process that worked for me:

1. Start with a save with 10 villagers.
2. Open NHSE. Load an empty villager onto one of the villagers. Only one. Save. This is your Save-1.
3. Restore Save-1 on Switch, open up your game, go check if that villager's house had turned into an available plot.
4. If it does turn into available plot, save the game. Quit. Backup that save. Let's call it Save-2.
5. Open Save-2 on NHSE, now edit that empty villager into the one you want, for example, Raymond. Save. This is Save-3.
6. Restore Save-3 on your Switch, open up your game, go to Mystery Island and invite that person to your island.
7. Go back to your island, check that available plot, it should say SOLD with 'Raymond' name instead of that person you invited.
8. Save, quit the game, go to your system and timeskip one day, go back to your game and Raymond should be there with correct house.

Try these and let me know if it works?
Hello, I tried your method but anytime I do it the game duplicates the 10th villager of my island instead of the one I want

So there is no way we can have all permits in the day we have the island designer app?

Correct. You have to have the app before you can unlock them. I didn't specifically test unlocking them with NHSE after getting the app, I just bought them since it was easier.

I just got the app today and there are no permits in the Nook machine, seems like I have to wait for tomorrow.

Did you use NHSE to "Give All" in "Edit Received Items"? If you did, they won't populate in the game to buy. You need to use NHSE to remove them and then buy them.

Uncheck these:
0x9EF - cliff construction permit
0xC03 - path construction permit
0xCAF - waterscaping permit
0x262B - custom design path permit
0x2245 - stone path permit
0x2246 - brick path permit
0x2247 - dark dirt path permit
0x2248 - arched tile path permit
0x2249 - sand path permit
0x224A - terra-cotta tile permit
0x224B - wooden path permit
0x224C - waterscaping permit (#8780)
0x224D - cliff construction permit (#8781)

Make sure to only empty one villager and to load that save in the game so the game register that the house is now empty plot. And when you load the save back to NHSE, change that empty villager into the one you want. The game should register that one as the 'newest' villager so when you invite someone else, it should turn out to be the one you chose in NHSE than the one you invited. I have no idea how it duplicate your 10th villager especially if you empty the plot beforehand.
