I’m having trouble getting melonds to start at all for certain games! (standalone version with the ‘gotta go fast’) I launch it from hbmenu (itself launched from an application, not the album) but when I try to launch Pokemon romhacks (like modded Pokemon games) nothing appears, the screen stays blank. I tried starting chrono trigger, it seemed to work fine. I read back a while, and someone asked the exact same question earlier on this thread. The issue was probably related to the large file size, and was fixed by starting hbmenu from an application, not the album. I already do this, however, and it still doesn’t work? Is my switch less powerful or something?
can you give me the concrete names of the romhacks and do the unpatched games work for you?

I tried blaze black 2, and renegade platinum. I have played through most of them, the exact same files, on a pc. I’ll check if the unpatched files work and get back to you
Tried them both, neither is loading. Could this be related to my sd card speed?? It said 120 mbps max read a peed but it was only about 60mbps when i tested it once

I never heared of that to be the problem. How is your sd card formatted as exFAT? I think that was the problem for someone once as well.

At the end of pg 52, this thread (sorry, cant link, made account for this) is where i found someone who seemed to have the exact same problem as me. Here's a picture I took, the screen behind the windows stays blank no matter how long i leave it for. I overclock it to maximum, if that helps

ah, the emulation starts, which means the game has in fact been loaded. Can you try disabling direct boot and see if it makes a difference?

It still shows the same black screen. I tried it with chrono trigger, and the ds start menu showed up. I don't know if this is related, but I'm also having troubles stopping a rom and loading another? If I load chrono trigger, and then stop it and try to load any of my pokemon roms, chrono trigger is still shown as being the inserted ds cart. When I tried to load 999, a much smaller game, it showed a no game cart inserted message. Closing hbmenu and opening melonds again let me load another rom properly. Also, another thing that might be related, when you select the little load rom dropdown, I'm seeing a lot of files that start with a ._??? I thought it was related to osx's weird tendency to create dotfiles, but i enabled dotfile viewing and checked the folder where the roms are in and there are no dotfiles in it.

hiiiii!!!!! oh my god i fixed it, i used 'pokémon' instead of 'pokemon' in the name, so it didn't work?? I don't really understand why it works, but I renamed all the files, taking out the 'é' and replacing it with 'e', and now it works!! I figured it out bc my gba emulator would only play pokemon blazed glazed not pokemon glazed, even though they should be around the same size, so I thought it could be the difference in the way they were named, 'blazed glazed', versus 'Pokémon Glazed', thank you so much for responding so quickly, and i think it runs great!!! I'm so happy I can play my favourites again, once again thank u so much for developing this :)))))))))

So I've been trying to start up the original Pokemon Blaze Black, but it seems to hang after starting a new game. The intro screen runs relatively smoothly, as does the menu. The LibRetro version of MelonDS 0.8.3 (which supposedly also has the JIT), gets into the intro but is unplayably slow. Is this a known issue? I've tried turning the different JIT options on and off to no avail.

I actually also have this same issue with pokemon blaze black 2.

Pokemon renegade platinum works beautifully, if anything it’s a bit too fast, is there a way to limit framerate like on the pc version of melonds?

this gives me error 2011-0102 if i enter and exit the settings too many times, im using sx

It depends. Most 2d games run fullspeed without any overclocking, while 3d games usually still require it.

the 3DS is completely a completely different console. The only reason a 3DS can run DS games is because it has more or less a DSi integrated.

melonDS currently does not support cheats, though it's being worked on(http://melonds.kuribo64.net/comments.php?id=111)
which 2d games run full speed without overclocking? i heard you can get nsmb at full speed but even with over clocking its still a little laggy, im using the ram mode
edit: figured it out lol, good job with getting melonds to run full speed in most games, question though, do you know why kh recoded wont load? i can get 358/2 days to work but not recoded.

You might still have an old save file, created before saving was fixed it the libretro version, you need to delete it. Pokemon needs some overclocking to get to fullspeed.

SX OS is not supported. NSMB uses 3D to draw Mario and some other objects.

does melonds work via Retroarch?
yes

well, does kh rcoded work on atmosphere and other cfw?
it doesn't seems to be a JIT bug, I'll investigate that.
