No I meant, the way I wrote should work - but of course, you can't do it if you already have 10 villagers. Have an empty plot, go to an island to invite someone in (or wait for the plot to be sold) and swap the villager before the house is built. This way, it'll work.

We'll call this Sold Plot Theory ? hahah

Anyway, I tried it and IT WORKS! I've successfully gotten Rolf to move into my island.

Yes it works, I've tried with two villagers and they seem to come with the right furniture/house. Too bad we still can't swap out unwanted villagers for better ones without messing their house, but it's something!

What I've done is in the SE, I just delete them there. When you come back into the game, their house will just be a plot ready to be sold. Then once sold you do your thing!

If you've already setup the furniture, that won't work r-right?

how do i use the designs feature in nhse? i tried using acpatterns it just gives me an acnl file. the editor requires nhd.
I did this before when hex editing the save and importing designs was the only option, but this method has been altered for the save editor. Basically, you dump an existing pattern from your game to use it as a template. Then you get your .acnl file and copy all the data except for the utf-16 name, creator, and town information and swap out the data in the template file for the data you copied then edit the name of the pattern at the top of the file so it's the name of the pattern. Make sure the name of the creator is your name so you can still edit the pattern in game. Once you've imported the pattern, you're going to have to edit the pattern and fix it since this crude method doesn't quite import the patterns correctly and things are going to be slightly off. Make corrections by comparing it with the original pattern on acpatterns then alter the color palette so it matches the one on acpatterns as well. You're just going to need a good eye for matching the colors to fix the color palette for now. The dev of acpatterns @Thulinma is already planning on supporting lossless conversion from ACNL pattern data to ACNH pattern data so this will possibly be easier in the future. For now this is the only method specifically for NHSE that works. There is also https://gbatemp.net/threads/animal-crossing-new-horizons-design-pattern-editor.561261/ which is also in development, but it is its own save editor tool and is separate from NHSE.

May I ask how do you delete villagers in SE? I've tried to do it using MyHorizon since I'm not sure what to set in NHSE but the game won't load for me.

I don't know about him but I deleted one by importing an empty villager from another savefile.

Do you have an empty villager file you could share? I have 10 villagers and only one savefile so I don't have that. If you could, I'd really appreciate it.

I typically set:
Species= 35
Variant = 0
Personality = None
Catch phrase = (empty)

However I have been having issues with 1 villager. If I 'delete' him using my method, It corrupts my whole save file. So i'll try importing that file and see if that helps.

@eskil your method works better! My issue with that 1 specific villager causing corruption through my method is gone after using your file!

Now to find if we can find a way to force villagers to leave using the SE.

So I have a question. I have a shared switc, and want others to play on that switch but not on my island. By default, you can only have one island per console, but, is there any way we will be able at some time in the future to have different saves for each user instead of one in the device? Just curious, I know it can't be done rn.
