Some of my favourite non rpg/strategy vita games are shmups and indies... Luftrausers and Downwell are a couple of Devolver Digital games that fit both those categories that I've spent a lot of time enjoying.
Most Ratalaika games are short fun experiences (with super easy platinum trophies).

Other stuff I've enjoyed on mine (again ignoring the tons of rpg's and visual novels etc);
Everybody's Golf
Zen Pinball 2
Dead or Alive Xtreme Venus
Muramasa Rebirth
TxK (along with Persona 4 Golden, the reason I wanted a Vita)
Wipeout 2048
Uppers (great English translation from Froid_sans)
Senran Kagura (take your pick, they're all fun games)... in fact, mostly anything released by Marvelous.

thanks both of you, I'm going to try all your reccomendations - i have uncharted but not tried it yet, it's next on my list

but being a 70's lad I'm finding it very hard to put down Q*bert tbvh :rofl2:
In that case definitely try TxK - it's another in Jeff "Llamasoft" Minter's 'tributes' to Tempest and essentially the game that became Tempest 4K on PS4.

I've got the Amiga version of Llamatron, I prefer classic Robotron but at the time it was probably the best home alternative available.
Jeff Minter's still going strong, what with Tempest 4K and Polybius on PS4, along with the first of the "Minotaur Collection" compilations (volume 1 features the latest itteration of Grid Runner and a previously iOS only game, Goat Up), and heavily utilising VR. He's been teasing a new game on his youtube channel that kind of looks like a dual playfield remake of the old arcade game Juno First, complete with all the usual hallucinatory Llamasoft bells and whistles.

If you haven't already, try Dragon Quest Builders, especially if you like Dragon Quest. I've poured hours into Builders, and it's a wonderful love letter to fans of the series.
