Not a joke. I opened a DS-Lite, and installed a spare firmware chip without FlashMe. After that I taped the battery in place and uploaded Haxxstation/FlashMe from a Wii.

Flashing worked exactly as normal.

And as a bonus because this is a spare chip that should remain stock I ran NoFlashMe the same way. All good.
Amazing! Now we have a solution for people with a broken slot 1, a wii/dsi/3ds, and a slot 2 flashcart who want to play DS roms. :P

The only thing I can think of is using haxxstation with his other 3ds and a slot2 flashcart to get flashme so that he can use the slot2 to run ds games? I don't even know if this would be possible but would be interesting.

Instead of swapping the slot1 reader he could try cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol or somehing.
Thank you for the reply to my question. It's nice to read that a solution has apparently been found. However, I am so sorry, but could we break this down a bit for me? Slot 2 is the GBA slot, and I would need a flashcard that fits in the GBA slot for my Phat DS?

When that is settled, what do I do with my CFW 3DS and haxxstation?

(If you prefer, you can send it to me in a private message. Or scold me in private for being such a newbie.)

Sorry, I didn't explain it better, but I considered it very hypotetical until @KleinesSinchen actually went through with it.

Anyways, for your games you'll need a slot 2 flashcart so maybe the EZflash Omega or something else like the everdrive-gba (not sure it works for DS games). Yes, slot 2 is the one for gba games. You are welcome to ask for suggestions for slot 2 flashcarts here on the forum since I have never owned one myself.

Then you'll need to use haxxstation with your 3ds, or a wii if you have one, and use it to send a homebrew program called FlashMe across download play. I've added everything I could find about haxxstation on 3DS below but I couldn't find a very good guide on it:
Here's a video showing how DS Download station, the app that is modified to send homebrew programs:

Also, this thread might contain it somewhere...https://gbatemp.net/threads/haxxstation-ds-download-station-exploit.473648/
Here's a short explanation of how to do it:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-make-a-haxxstation-launcher.480643/

I believe this is the file you can use to make your haxxstation homebrew ds download station (if you're not familiar with github you'll need to go to the releases tab and get the release matching your system (x86 or x64):
https://github.com/RetroHeim-Soft/dspatch-gui

Maybe if you follow this you'll be able to make it:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/haxxstation-automation-script.482518/

You will need DS Downloadstation Volume 1 which is copyrighted stuff, so either you'll have to buy that cartridge online or find it through the internet (we can't tell you where since it's against the rules).

Seeing that haxxstation is less intuitive to use than I first thought I might as well try to do it myself when I have time.

Once you get Flashme running on the DS you want to hack, look at @KleinesSinchen 's post below on how to use Flashme. I've never done it. Be extremely sure of what you're doing when doing the Flashme because you could potentially brick/break your DS while doing it if you do something wrong. Good Luck!

Then you'll need to use haxxstation with your 3ds and use it to send a homebrew program across download play called flashme. Then you'll need a small philipshead flat (or star?) screwdriver to flash your DS (instructions should be online somewhere if not ask @KleinesSinchen . I've never done it, but you need to screw very precisely something that looks like two screwpoints found near the battery. Don't touch them unless you know what to do.), make sure to do this right because you could potentially brick your DS while doing it.
I don't know how to use Haxxstation from a 2|3DS. I did it with a Wii: wii-ds-rom-sender.

I can tell you how to use FlashMe:
  • :!: Read the warnings carefully.
    • Do not turn off until FlashMe says that it is safe!
    • Secure the battery against dropping out with tape
    • Don't touch other metal points on the PCB – the console might turn off! DS-Phat has a more robust layout around SL1, DS-Lite can be shorted easily
    • BUT: Bad flash on a DS-Phat is not easy to fix!
  • Prepare a toothpick or similar with metal foil and insulate everything but the very tip
  • Start FlashMe, press XBXB and press your custom tool against SL1
    • Turn sound volume to the max. FlashMe gives acoustic signals for the flashing process and successful finishing it.
    • Flashme will pause if you lose contact. Simply press down on your tool again. (You can hear if it is pausing, flashing or finished)
Pictures of a DS-Lite (Phat is very similar, remove battery cover to gain access to SL1)

After successfully flashing you can load unsigned software via Download Play without Haxxstation, get rid of the Health and Safety screen (if you want to keep it use stealth FlashMe version) and can load DS software from SLOT-2. ← This is what you want!

Good luck and have fun!

TWiLight has some built-in emulators.

Just launch a ROM in TWLMenu++, and the emulator will start.
oh my bad I forgot to mention that i knew about the built in emulators in TWL++
I was trying to ask if maybe there is something ab emulator for arcade games or something like a MAME port for DS
Sorry if it became confusing :/

Nice! Could you also maybe link to where the most recent flashme can be found? It's a bit hard since it's an old app.
Of course. Together with various flashcart kernels it is on:
http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/

If this does not work (currently works), open the page with the Wayback machine.

Since there are A LOT of downloads there, the easiest is searching FlashMe with CTRL+F
