[RUMOR] Report claims Super Mario Galaxy along with other Mario games will be remastered this year

Nintendo's mascot is celebrating his 35th anniversary this year, with some possible remasters on the way to mark the occasion, if some rumors are to be believed. News website Video Game Chronicle issued a story claiming that Nintendo would be releasing "several" major games, which would include "most of the Super Mario back catalog, remastered for the Nintendo Switch". VGC's sister site, Eurogamer, also corroborated the story, with their own sources hinting at Super Mario Galaxy being one of the remastered mystery games. Yet another reporting site, Gematsu, made its own separate claims that Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario 3D World would be involved, alongside a brand new Paper Mario reveal. Only time will tell if these rumors turn out to be true, but they certainly would be major announcements, if so.

[UPDATE]

The original story has been updated, with the outlet providing more concrete details from their alleged source. Supposedly, Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy 1 will be released as "a special anniversary collection", instead of just straight ports. That release will be followed up with a Deluxe version of the Wii U's Super Mario 3D World, featuring new content. Finally, a new Paper Mario game is rumored, with the site claiming it'll be a "return to the series' RPG roots".

Not sure how this would work. My favorite aspect of playing galaxy is keeping the WiiMotes pointed at the sensor bar. If they don't come out with a USB sensor bar for the switch dock along side with this I don't see it working.

I wanna play Sunshine so badly, i'm just praying Nintendo remakes 64 & Sunshine, make a Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 remaster (not a remake), and a port of 3D World.
also, hmmm, how can i say this without getting fucking murdered, hmmm, there's no way to say this without getting murdered, hmmm....
So...
I would love a port of Color Splash for the Switch.

this is quite literally a case of "too good to be true", it's probably not gonna happen, just like pokemon stars

^ don't get me wrong. I'd love a SM64 remaster and a SMG 1 port. But the timing and the amount of stuff promised all for this year (especially with self-isolation because of the coronavirus outbreak). It definitely seems too good to be true.

A rumor get posted...

Why rumors... Not to be the average GBATemper, but it's a nature for me not to believe rumors unless Nintendo really confirmed things themselves. And now I run into this...

The rumor popped up in my phone articles. The very first second I immediately swiped away.
But ofcourse I hope it's true nevertheless.

Would love to see both Galaxies. The big adventage would be not needing those damn batteries for the Wiimote everytime.
But how would Super Mario Galaxy play with Joycons? We'll see, or not.

Because I've heard from a certain Lovecraftian being that, if rumors gain enough traction, your rumor has a chance of becoming reality!

It makes sense to me that they're going to start remastering left and right because I don't see what AAA titles are coming this year? Metroid Prime 4 won't be this year, there's no Mario Kart, Zelda, Smash. I guess there's Lego Mario if that counts.
