Hacking Did I just Brick My Cursed r4ids.cn card?

So I got a r4ids.cn card, for use in my dslite, specifically, the R4i 3ds/ds gold plus rts with the red text. I put the wood kernel from r4ids.cn on and it would crash most of the time and load up about 1/4 of the time. I did try sticking it in my 3ds to see if it would load (totally not thinking) and it behaved about the same. it would crash or not load. Then it wouldn't load AT ALL past a black screen on my DSLite even a quarter of the. I realized there was a bunch of stuff I read about bricking these things by sticking them in 3DS's without the update. Stupid me. Did I just totally trash my not working right to begin with card?

I got the card to boot a couple times, but I'm still getting freezing problems. It'll freeze on the ds screen, and when I open the "konami whatever" file it usually goes white. I've even tried holding the card down to see if it would make a better connection, but that didn't help. I'm kinda stumped. If it loads into Wood itl'll load a game. but it will almost never load into wood. I do have a possibly original possibly a wierd clone R4 that works perfectly every time in the same DSlite.

Did you follow steps 1-7 in that post? What was the H2testw result for your flashcart's microSD card?

I did 1-7 and the card came back totally fine.

Attempt to fix the flashcart's firmware. Do this on your (hacked) 3DS.

Download the ntrboot_flasher and add this to the 3DS system's SD card.
- sdmc:/luma/payloads/ntrboot_flasher.firm
Download the R4i_Gold_3DS_(HW_A7)-Flashrom.zip and add this to the 3DS system's SD card.

- sdmc:/ntrboot/R4iGold3DS-backup.bin
- Before you ask the question, "But wait! This is for the (older) R4i Gold 3DS RTS. I have the (newer) R4i Gold 3DS Plus.", the two models use the same firmware. How I know this is that I reflashed that very exact image on my R4i Gold 3DS Plus, and it works.
Make sure the flashcart's internal switch is set to "D" or DS mode. See this image.
Insert the flashcart into the 3DS game cart reader. Insert the 3DS system's SD card into its SD card slot reader (not the flashcart's microSD card slot).
Turn (ON) the 3DS and boot to HOME Menu. Verify that the 'Konami Digital Entertainment' icon appears. This is to know for sure that the 3DS recognizes the flashcart.
Turn (OFF) the 3DS. Turn it back (ON) and hold the (START) button → Luma3DS chainloader → ntrboot_flasher.
Navigate to R4i Gold 3DS → Restore Flash → Reboot.
- If you select Dump Flash before Restore Flash, this will overwrite the sdmc:/ntrboot/R4iGold3DS-backup.bin with the flashcart's currently (bad) image dump.
Launch the flashcart and check for stability.

Edit - If that flashcart still acts up despite the firmware reflash, yours is probably a lemon. Contact your seller for a refund or exchange.

I appreciate your help. I gave everything a try, but I'm leaning more towards a "bad" card. Its crashing 4/5ths of the time still. I might try putting it in a new case if I can, I have an old r4ids.cn card as well that doesn't crash, but doesn't load up any version of Wood I've tried so far. Before I get going to deep with this other one though. Do you know if these cards are bound to a specific version ie. card only runs on Wood version 1.2? Or will multiple versions work?

Calling @Lilith Valentine who knows more about DS flashcarts.

I have no clue if the latest wood kernel can be used on older flashcart models that run on wood.

A reason why your old r4ids.cn flashcart might not work could be due to getting blocked off by the DS cart whitelist.
