Hi,

I used the 3DS hacks guide to update the 4.5.0-10E firmware to Luma3DS. To keep it short: It succeeded and was easy to do. I wanted to also use Gateway 3DS next to Luma and when I loaded Gateway 3DS GW fast boot everything went nuts. Now i'm on the original 11.13.0-45E firmware with no escape route.

  • I used the seedminer option but the damn Dsi Manager just freezes. Thus I'm not able to create the 42383841.bin
  • What I do have is backups. The original EmuNAND 4.5.0-10E and the SynNAND backup from the 3ds guide.
  • What I also have is a blue and red Gateway card.
I have look for info how to restore (using mode 9 etc.) but all require CFW. What are my options to run Luma 3DS again? Thank

SYSNAND-ONLY USERS: DO NOT BOOT GW MODE ON 11.3+ - YOU WILL LOSE B9S AND BE LEFT ON A STOCK FIRMWARE
Apparently Gateway can still be used on "latest" (Franken-)firmware on EmuNAND: https://gbatemp.net/threads/gateway-gw3d-11-10-b9s-and-cfw.550040/

Good luck!

Thank you for the info.

To be short: I got it working again. I used the frogminer guide, but I got stock on step 8. Launch Steel Diver, which should launch the Homebrew Menu.

Yeah well I downloaded the Steel diver app (once I got the Nintendo ID, password, email in check... Good heavens) haha. But It just loaded the game.
So I followed the YT guide and that helped.

After that I used the original 3ds hacks guide again to pick up where I left of.

BTW: Still looking for a good guide (or easy option) to boot into Gateway 3DS (red card) Next to Luma.

It's not worth the hassle dealing with frankenfirm and risking bricking your emuNAND any time there's a new update and then having to jump through hoops to recover it without losing your data. Trust me, I went through all that myself.
But if you really want, you can make an emuNAND, and ctrtransfer an older firmware to it (one that GW supports) and just use the emuNAND for GW only (you can boot into it with Luma but there's not much reason why you'd want to)
There's just not much point, when Luma can do everything GW can and more, the only difference being that you have to install CIAs (but .3DS roms can be converted to .CIA in seconds using 3dsconv so even that isn't too much trouble)

You might be right. I used Gateway 3DS for 4 years now and just started using LUMA because I wanted to try Pokémon Supernova Sun & Penumbra Moon and that requires Luma. So til figuring out how to play Ultra Sub/ Ultra Moon .3ds or convert to .cia via Luma 3DS and use cheats (like within Gateway) and convert my saves. If you have any info on this... that will help :)

CTRPF is what you want for cheats, it has built in cheat searching and can load cheats from text files, very similar to Gateway.
As for converting saves, it's a bit of a hassle but you can use this to make the job easier: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zf4fkbe8fwen7ee/GWSE.rar?dl=0

Thanks. I will check how I can get CTRPF to work. I'm using checkpoint ATM because of the installation guide, but the pokemon games are crashing like crazy....

BTW I'm having trouble to put Ultra Sun / Moon on the SD card since it's FAT32. I'm familiar how to convert the .3ds file to .cia via Godmode9. Is there another way?

Like I said use 3dsconv, it's a PC tool, it needs a boot9 dump (you can dump your own with GM9 IIRC or find one online) and converts in seconds. Don't bother converting with GM9, it's very slow.

Thanks for the info thus far. For some reason I could not get 3dsconv to work.
I downloaded the 3dsconv 4.2 from https://github.com/ihaveamac/3dsconv/releases and followed the instructions, extracted the boot9 from the GM9Megascript option etc.

Anyway to make things simple for myself I used the 3DS Simple CIA Converter by RikuKH3 > https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-3ds-simple-cia-converter.384559/ (Version 5.0).

The cheat options are working fine so far, although sometimes Pokemon Ultra Sun / Moon crashes. Could be the codes though.. Something to figure out...

What I did not figure out yet is to install multiple editions of a game for example:
- Pokemon Sinking Sapphire
- Pokemon Alpha Sapphire (EU)
- Pokemon Alpha Sapphire (USA)

When I use FBI to install the game it just overwrites it. On Gateway 3DS I just created a seperate .3ds file and thus a sperate save was created. This due to multiple people using the DS and want their own save game... :)
