Hi, I used to use gateway 3ds by connecting to a link which doesn't work anymore. It's been a long time and I'm getting "old" so please be nice and help me...is there a way to be able to use the gateway again? I didn't understand much from this discussions, I read about some luma cwf. I don't want to buy another card...so what do you suggest? Please make it easy when you explain it's been a while since i used to play with this stuff... Thank you very much and sorry if i ask! My 3ds firmware is 6.0.0 12E

What the others said. http://3ds.hacks.guide is the best one around.
Also, if you were using an emuNAND previously, make sure to follow the "move emuNAND" section when the guide asks you to, there is no reason to be using emuNAND with modern CFW and it only has drawbacks, such as DSiWare not working.

If you have any save data on the Gateway you want to keep, you'll need to export save data to a decrypted format before following the guide, as GW save data only works in Gateway Mode, and once you update to the latest FW, you can no longer use GW mode as it doesn't support it.
You can use this tool to export the save data more easily: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zf4fkbe8fwen7ee/GWSE.rar?dl=0

With a 2 GB SD card, make sure you have followed the steps in the guide that say--and I quote--"Copy <date>_<serialnumber>_sysnand_###.bin, <date>_<serialnumber>_sysnand_###.bin.sha, essential.exefs, and boot9.bin from the /gm9/out/ folder on your SD card to a safe location on your computer." When that's done, delete the .bin and .bin.sha files from your SD card. That gives you some space.

With that space, put a .cia file for the game you wish to install into your /cias folder on the root of your SD card. Put the SD card back into your 3DS, start up FBI, scroll into the /cias folder, and select the .cia file you want to install.

Take note that you need space to install the .cia file into a game. So let's say on your SD card you have a .cia file with a size of 800 MB you wish to install. You need at least 800 MB of free space on your SD card to install that file onto your 3DS, even if you choose the Install and Delete option that installs the .cia and deletes the .cia file after it has installed the game.

Either an SD card or a micro SD card inside an SD adapter will work just fine! Enjoy your 3DS.

Don't forget to check if your new SD or micro SD card works correctly. TurdPooCharger usually recommends these steps: (i) back up your data from your SD onto your computer; (ii) quadruple format, and; (iii) check if your SD card works with the h2test program.

After checking if your card works properly, it should be formatted to Fat32 with 32 kb cluster size.

Finally, I have read that the really big cards (128 GB and up) can potentially slow down your 3DS and/or the booting of the system and games. For myself, I have found that 64 GB has more than enough apps on there to enjoy.
