As factories begin to reopen in China, Sony is confident in the PS5 still launching by end of 2020

Despite concerns over COVID-19 causing a delay in next-gen gaming console production, Sony appears to believe that things will proceed as planned, with the PlayStation 5 still launching later this year. Two of Sony's Chinese factories are set to return to a normal operating procedure, but the company is reportedly dealing with component shortages. In a comment to Bloomberg, Sony officially stated that even with the issues regarding closed offices in the UK and Malaysia and higher than usual operating costs leading to a loss in yearly profit, "it doesn't see any notable impact on the launch of its next-generation game console PlayStation 5 planned at the end of this year". They are also "carefully monitoring the risk of delays in production schedules for game software titles".

You are waste my time. This thread need to closed.
Glad I wasted your time. That bs about console x is objectively better than console y will never go well, simple.
The one console may be weaker than the other console but they all have their pro's and cons and in the end of day, get what you want.

We Will see it might just be all hype
it will be hype it won't be able to do it unless they dumb down the settings considerately. the new xbox has half of what a 2080 ti super has it won't be able to do it either it can have all the teraflops it wants it won't matter. i can tell you right now and this has nothing to do with pc superiority if the 2080 ti super can't do 4k/60 with RT enabled at max/ultra settings than NOTHING can. it can't even do it at 1440p you ask anyone!

they actually admitted a while ago it didn't come from the wet markets
now they are blaming the US
100% bioweapon or man made virus
i think all governments are complicit , Chin and US top among them

 - Oh God we're off again! Doesn't matter at this moment how it happened, what matters is how to get rid of it, then let them point the fingers at each other! And like I read further up, if they're re-opening asap then it increases the chances of a 2nd, possibly even worse, wave (read: 'Spanish Flu', the last big worldwide epidemic - google it)

Would be nice to see PS5 (and Series X) by the end of the year, summat to look forward to for once, however small the quantities may be. But if there's ANY risk involved in pushing them out for that time, then it's just not worth taking it in my opinion.

I didnt log for years, but i had to adress a common misconception about next gen.
since last gen pro sony always diss xbox with the well known phrase : ''yeah yeah ,xbox is strong but wheres the games''
And that may be true to some extent, microsoft had their heads way up their asses that they forgot that consoles means exclusives.
But this year you sony bots forgot major changes: sony has jack shit to show for this year, did sony announce anything yet? none whatsover, zero nada. And this year will see both competitors fight with almost equal ground, with a minor surprise is that microsoft focus next gen is games and new IPS.Am i the only fucking guy who watched last year microsoft conference or what?
So in conclusion, equal ground in games announcement and superiority for microsoft in power.
As for ninty, the lack of announcement for GTA still baffles me,is microsoft and sony paying rockstar not to do it or is nintendo have autistic CEOs.
Back to main article, sony is trying to set in stones its launch day,i mean this virus cant last that much with its peak reached or almost reached.
they should stop the virginity bs though, show the damn goods already,we need to tackle the main issue: GAMES !!!!
Am i right?

There is nothing wrong with delaying PS5 and XsX until 2021.

I for one would welcome it. Create a worthwhile launch with proper stock and non rushed games instead of a scalpers dream.

I have no doubts that the console will launch this year ... i just dont think there will be anywhere near enough consoles to go around. The state of chinese manufacturing at the moment really is in a dumpster, most factories are struggling to out 15% of their normal quantity. This will improve over the year as the crisis begins to end but its not gonna be till the end of the year beginning of next year before things are anywhere near 100% output.

The best thing to do would be do delay till next year, but this won't happen because it create demand and the only people who are gonna win are the scalpers marking them up at 200%.
This said this really wont effect me at all, it is once in a blue moon that will buy a console at launch, i like to sit back and wait to see which way the wind is blowing first

Does console mean exclusives?
Looking back on the PS360 then while I would probably have given it to MS ( https://gbatemp.net/threads/ps3-and-360-exclusives-a-discussion.360416/ ) there was not a lot in it really, give or take a final push from Sony (and NIS) to actually have "Sony is the RPG machine" actually mean something this time (PS1 and PS2... no way anybody would argue otherwise, here there was not a lot in it until NIS and Ni No Kuni, and I would probably take MagnaCarta II over any of those).

I would say don't let yourself get left behind, have examples of all the key areas and if you are so anti consumer as to have exclusives then meh but might as well get some nice ones.
