Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition launches this May, will have new story content

Announced as part of today's surprise Nintendo Direct Mini, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition's release date has been confirmed. The updated release will feature improved graphics, a more visible HUD and menu buttons, and remastered music. Not only that, but an additional side story will be available, titled Future Connected, which acts as an epilogue to the main story. Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition launches on May 29th.

OK, this is how you do re-releases!
Other than charging $60 for it, I'd agree with you. Should be $40 at most TBH.

I expect almost locked 30 FPS with a dynamic resolution from 540p up to 720p in docked mode.
This was a Wii/3DS game lol, Switch could probably display it in 4K.

I agree if this would be a simple Wii port or remaster. I expect this game to run on a modified Xenoblade Chronicles 2 engine. That game was pushing the switch hard already in terms of performance.

There is no doubt in my view that the cursed cv19 could be eradicated if Shulk would just allow me to use the power of the Monado. Sadly when I asked he said it was needed for this switch release. With that said the fan made hd remaster is incredible. You need a reasonable pc but I would highly recommend checking it out perhaps even before or over this nintendo remake. Perhaps you have no idea or would want to check it out or would need help installing it. I made a tut for anyone interested:

The face textures on Wii are still too ugly IMO

Very solid game, I couldn't finish it on Wii but destroyed it on n3DS.
I loved the calm pacing, collecting stuff and crushing monsters.

But another re-edition ? Seriously ?

Just looking for the Nth definitive installement in VR, where you have to scream Monado yourself.
Save the planet, recycle games.:creep:

Well, time to replay this masterpiece for the 4th time.

The first 5 hours was so boring I know that, then suddenly boom best JRPG ever.
Eh, I wouldn't say that. The sheer freaking number of Timed Quests, along with just how goddamn rare some collectibles (for Quests and for the Collectopedia) are, and the complicated mess that is the equipment system and stats; all these ruined the experience for me, back when I played the original version (well, the New 3DS one, anyway; fuck the Wii).

I personally much prefer Xenoblade 2 due to it having no Timed Quests, missable content, and having simplified equipment and stats noticeably - thereby making the adventure much more enjoyable. Sure, it has its own bullshit (gachapon Core Crystals; several Blade Affinity Chart nodes; not all Legendary Blades having three Aux Core slots; different outfits being tied to mostly-inferior Aux Cores preventing said outfits from being used), but none of that's as crippling as Xenoblade 1's flaws.

*New 3DS. The original model couldn't handle it.
...If a Wii game this massive managed to fit onto the New 3DS, I wonder if it's possible to shove Super Paper Mario onto it...

"new story content"

I will take some story content rather than the none the original game had. Hopefully this one does not put me to sleep.

Personally I like both equally, XC2 was better in gameplay but it didn't beat the story of XC1, I personally found the story of XC1 almost perfect, even though the characters design look meh, and it look like an MMO with basic characters, but that doesn't prevent it for being my in my top list of JRPG, played it on Wii then Dolphin twice, now the switch, and of course with Japanese dub, I couldn't stand the English voices.

I got the special edition Wii version back in the day with the red controller, played the game for about 40 hours and thought the music was amazing and the graphics were incredible (well, except for the faces, which came straight out of the developers' nightmares), but I didn't like the single player MMO gameplay and there was way too much to do, and so I never finished it. I genuinely spent fifteen hours between one story point and the next just because I was trying to finish side quests (several of which are time-locked and disappear if you progress too far into the story) and explore the maps, so by the time I got to that next story point I was struggling to remember what was going on again.

I then started playing it again on the 3DS with the intention of just ignoring all of the side-quests and felt it was a much better game for it, but I didn't feel like investing so many hours into the game yet. It's a great way to play the game, though, because it's easier to just pick up and play for a bit and it's insane seeing those massive landscapes on the 3DS, and all that in 3D as well. The gameplay still isn't really my cup of tea but I do still feel like playing it to the end someday.

It's a bit annoying that the Switch version now has additional content, because I'm set on playing the game on the 3DS, but at least the 3DS doesn't have those ugly childish anime graphics.

I tried out Xenoblade Chronicles 2 because people were saying it was so great, and I thought it was awful. Then people said Torna was a massive improvement over XC2, so I also tried it, and I didn't like it either, but at least it didn't force you to admire its anime boob physics as much.

I'm starting to wonder why I even bother with this series at all, I clearly don't like it.
