Hi everyone

My switch will be very important on my motor home setup. With a second portative screen, I would like to know if I can see movies?

A thread or a way will be helpful. Still 8.2.0 with atmo on it.

Thank you

ps : last way : android / l4t but I need two SD card. Or looks like quite difficult. NotGeek

x265 encodes to H.265/HEVC video codec which probably won't be playable on a Switch unless we get a very fast and efficient video player homebrew.
x264 encodes to H.264/AVC video codec which is possible, and there's various video player homebrew around but I'm not sure how efficient or well they play the videos, do realize that the Nintendo Switch handheld screen is only 720p. When docked it will be 1080p (upconverted if your Display's resolution is higher).

I don't see why plex wouldn't work on android/l4t as long as you have a plex server at home.

You may have to share your data to your switch via a hot-spot, but it should work

I want my switch as a autonome pc : download movie and watch it.
No stream.

I check : pplay 2.1 looks fine. Any suggestion?

What your describing is piracy; I will not support your question, and I hope others won't either.
I'm pretty sure that there are movies that can be legally downloaded and watched from a video file.

In any case, the best video player for a Switch on Horizon (as in the Switch's own OS, the one where we get CFW) is pplay, but there are far better options in Android (Switchroot Android) and L4T Ubuntu (Linux for Tegra)

I have done what you are looking for in android but as others have said you will top out at 720p i would recommend l4t ubuntu. If you can deal with 720p i like android alot. The switch is truly powerful device.

Yes, pPlay should handle 720p and 1080p x264 in most cases, x265 will be more difficult, but I had some success with some 720p one.

You can run x264/265 pretty decently on ubuntu, although gavin is struggling with adding hwdecoding to a decent player atm, you can enter switchroot's discord server and stay tuned.

Don't worry about the muh piracy guys, its only one of two of them and they use it either way lmao, you'll get your help.

LOL

What you try to mean with this quote?

Stock atmosphere didn't run any protected software without third party patches, only provide the posibility of run homebrew and mod the console.

You say "download and play", download movies is piracy, run atmosphere isn't.

Your implying that these movies are obtained illegally. You can get legally downloaded movies.
