Since the first day I tried to download a WiiU Game via WupInstaller it gives that one error that appears when you unplug the USB Device. Let me explain.
The Menu is loading, and in the exact moment where the installed game icon is supposed to appear, I get a black screen for a few seconds, then the error shows up, forcing me to turn off the Wii U by pressint the POWER button for 4 seconds or unpluggin the console.
Then, I have to go to the WiiU Settings, and format the USB (well, it'i actually an external disk, from those ones you connect using 2 of the 4 USB things on the WiiU.
Why didn't I delete that one game only? (Minecraft Wii U)
Because when trying to do that when the game icon is supposed to appear with all the other data, the same error happens.

Good thing I didn't installed inside WiiU's internal memory.

Anyways, that's the reason I play that game in Loadiine.

Same thing happens with Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and N64 Injects.

I mean, for what i've seen, N64 Injects have always been a problem. But why with Wii U Games too?

These two game errors happened to me like half year ago, and I thought by looking for it in Google I would have a solution, but today I did and there are only similar problems, not exactly the same, and they don't have solution neither.

The Games and the Wii U are USA region.

I did make sure the games were complete, I literally downloaded Minecraft multiple times but when installing it the same thing happened, so I am insecure about trying more Wii U games...

*_But by coincidence_* both games have a ":" in the name, or atleast I think so, by what I know, some people was having an issue because the "&" in a Mario & Sonic vWii , so maybe there's a solution to the same thing, but with a WiiU game, but i couldn't find anything.

So, any replies will be appreciated.

Usb drives required y-cable on Wii U.

Sorry I missed the part about where I think you are saying you have a y-cable already?

Yep I do use a y-drive, and I don't think it is because the USB.
I mean, I have installed GC, GBA, NDS, Wii and SNES games with no problem (then deleted them and installed them again in Wii U's internal memory, so I don't lose them if I ever have to format the USB Drive again.
But Wii U and N64 games keep doing this.

From experience, for WiiU game installs (legit games not custom injects) you don't need to worry about "&" and ":" in the name description.

As for custom injects, yes "&" will cause the game icon on the WiiU menu to have a "?" and will not launch, for those injects, those who are creating the injects need to use "&" instead of "&" in the meta.xml file when injecting for the game on the WiiU menu to show "&" and work correctly.

To rule out if it's your HDD that is causing you issues even though you have successfully installed other games, is to try another HDD or even another SD CARD.

Also what is the exact ERROR message you are getting?

Hey! sorry for late answer!
Like, reallyy late answer, school had me a bit too busy.
However, I have some news...

First of all the error I'm getting is: 1584316226794646862099.jpg

I know it is in Spanish, sorry, but the error code is there.
It's basically telling me there's something wrong with the USB(where I installed the game). As i told you, this happens whem the game is supposed to appear on menu.

However, the news I told you about is that I recently tried dumping a disc via disc2app, the game was GAME&WARIO, wich happened to, after installing the WUP, give the the same error.

It appears to happen with NES games after playing a while, N64 and WIIU just after installing, and I guess the rest is fine, considering I already tried SNES, GBA, and NDS, plus GBC and Wii.

The error message transalated to Spanish says something like:

"There is a problem with the USB storage(?)

Please try to talk with the publisher of the mentioned device.
To get more contact information, check the device's documentation"

Hope you guys can help.

Yup, I recently tried it in a normal USB instead of one that needs a y-drive, same thing happened.

I started thinking it could be because the region of console and game, buut, as you can see here, the region is perfectly fine with the region of the games, as you can see here

1584365287194577055200.jpg

Both console and games, are USA, even the disc I tried to dump is USA, and the guide I followed for homebrew was for 5.5.3, so, what is happening? It is really painful to be unable to install the games if I even have them in WUP format.

According to the Picture with the normal Wii U System Version 5.5.3:

May I ask please how is your Wii U modded and/or which Hacking/Exploit Method did you use please ?

Thank you.:)

It's looking like he's trying to install signed games without the Wii U patching signatures (ie running haxchi). You need to run a CFW to be able to install dlc and injects.

I'm pretty sure this is the guide I used

If not, it was any other 5.5.3 guide from Alucardianos that doesn't requires a NDS game.
When someone hacks their Wii U with this guide, if you want to run Homebrew, you open any exploit page in the Wii U Browser (Loadiine . ovh in my case) and then the Wii U will do thay re-start thing it always does. It is supossed to automatically run a CFW, consodering after doing this I'm able to open the Alucardianos Homebrew (U Launcher) in the menu and any other installed game that requires CFW to run them.

It's looking like he's trying to install signed games without the Wii U patching signatures (ie running haxchi). You need to run a CFW to be able to install dlc and injects.

However, it would be pretty funny if all of this was because not running a CFW, thinking the browser thing did, but it does not. Anyways, I'm sure I tried this before, but a long time ago, I'll try running different CFW's to see what happens, I'll tell if anything happens.

Don't think this is the issue, if you read his previous replies, he can can install N64, SNES, etc... without any issues. As you know, installing WiiU VC's either its official eShop or custom injects, both requires to boot into CFW to install and play, if you fail to boot into CFW, you will get an error message about signature patching. His error message relates to his attached USB hard drive.

Loadiine can only work off of a SD card and will not work on a usb drive. That could be causing your issue.

He said he's using Loadiine which has no USB support.

Just had a quick look at the WUP installer the YT video is using, not sure if that is the issue or not but try the 2 other alternatives, WUP Installer GX2 and/or WUPINSTALLER Y MOD, google these two and copy to your SD CARD where the WiiU homebrew folder is, sd card/wiiu/apps folder.

I'm not sure then, not familiar with the way he's running the CFW. Maybe a bad cable??

This is a very odd issue that I have not come across before, if he is following the YT video, looking at the splash screen that shows up on the GamePad, thats the IOSUHAX splash screen which is Haxchi's CFW.

He did mention that he used another hard drive that didnt use a Y cable and same issue.

I'm using SD Card for everything related to the Homebrew, Loadiine, all.
I just wanna download WiiU games with WUPInstaller in the USB, or Wii U's internal memory, but none seems to work.

Yeah... it's pretty much a mess, this problem has always existed, since I first tried to install a Wii U game, I thought I would find a solution so I didn't care but I think no one on the Internet has the same problem.

As suggested in my previous reply, try both these alternative WUP installers.
WUP Installer GX2 here, grab the hbl_hbc one.
WUPINSTALLER Y MOD here.

Also have you tried another SD CARD?

I actually have those two already on my SD, tried a long time ago to download a N64 game with WUPInstaller Y MOD but same issues, but I don't know if the WUPInstaller GX I have is the hbl_hbc one. I'll check that.

yes, definitely yes.
I started using a 2GB SD Toshiba Memory Card, that's the one I used to download (or atleast try) Minecraft and Captain Toad, also some N64 games.
Then, because emulation and stuff I had in the SD card, I thought I would need more GB and I currently use a Sandisk Micro SD to SD adapter and a micro SD with 16GB.
Also I just finished downloading my dumped disc with WUPInstaller GX and this happened
15843891605001658108870.jpg The gamepad is also just in a black screen.

I just shutted down the WiiU and when the game is supossed to appear in Menu, the same 160-0105 error happened.
