TurboGrafx-16 Mini delayed "indefinitely"

body_main.png

Konami was set to get in on the mini-console nostalgia trend, but it looks like fans will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on these throwback systems. The TurboGrafx-16 Mini and the PC Engine Mini, which were slated for release on March 19th, have been delayed indefinitely. The delay comes as a result of the current Coronavirus outbreak in China, which has impacted shipping facilities. The TurboGrafx-16 Mini was first revealed during E3 2019, and was planned to include 24 classic games from the North American and European catalog, and another 26 games originally released in Japan.

What's fun with this epidemy is that even mainstream media are beginnning to say: maybe we shouldn't have let our industry being drained by Asia and think about reindustrialisation of Europe.

Lol, 30 years of social regression and extreme poverty for european low and middle classes was OK.
After m Months of production shortage and stocks dropping and it is like 'DAMN IT WHO WOULD KNEW WE MUST HAVE AN INDUSTRIAL STRATEGY'

Well, maybe we'll all die but for now I'll have a Dr Pepper. :D
Someone wanna share a drink ?

While Corona AKA Corvid-19 is indeed serious, painting it as the 21st century equivalent of the Bubonic plague, Athens plague of 429 BCE or even the many diseases such as smallpox and measles that killed off at least 80% of Native Americans is really stretching it.

It's delaying my games.... That alone makes it much much worse than any plague in the past!!!

I was reading someone's post on this forum saying he bought a Switch Lite prematurely because he feared it would become scarce in stores soon. He's probably right. China is the world's main factory for electronics. Scalpers are gonna love this Coronavirus.
you should see what they've done to the poor oculus quest and rift s prices

That alternative reality would have ended with massive inflation & worse working conditions in those countries. Technical advances would likely have been slower too.

Which isn't to say it doesn't have some advantages, but the choice isn't between now and now with the additional bits you like.

Over time you can and should expect equality with other countries to balance out and erode some of the privilege that you've artificially obtained over the years.

Here is a handy little chart to make it easier for everyone.

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (technically Akumajo Dracula X : Chi No Rondo), Bomberman: Panic Bomber, and Cho Aniki were all Super CD²-ROM titles. Aldynes and Daimakaimura (Ghouls n Ghosts) are the only Supergrafx games included in this collection. It would have been an awesome collectible had they gone ahead and included the other 3 Supergrafx titles, since only 5 were ever made.

It's weird how that chart says that Panic Bomber, Cho Aniki, and Castlevania were Supergrafx; that does not match with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PC_Engine_SuperGrafx#Software .

It's most likely someone just let their eyes get misplaced when they were making the chart. When looking at a graph like that it's not difficult to do. That said, there is some irony that all three titles were CD games, seeing as there were never any CD games exclusive to or enhanced by the Supergrafx. I still think it's a missed opportunity that they didn't release Granzort on this thing. It would've been neat to have the sequel to Keith Courage (the first Turbografx game most of us played) released officially outside of Japan. I think it was based on an anime, so I would assume the real culprit keeping both Granzort and Keith Courage off the system is a licensing issue.
