The Hollywood Reporter just broke an exclusive piece reporting that the TV network HBO will adapt the hit video game The Last of Us into a TV series. Craig Mazin, the creator behind acclaimed HBO limited series Chernobyl, will handle the adaptation while Neil Druckmann, the writer and creative director of the video game, will also be involved to write for and executive produce the series. THR also reports that Sony Pictures Television in association with PlayStation Productions will co-produce the project which will be the latter's first television series.

According to the report, the adaptation will be based on the events of the original game, "with the possibility of additional content based on the forthcoming game sequel, The Last of Us Part II".

"From the first time I sat down to talk with Craig I was equally blown away by his approach to narrative and his love and deep understanding of The Last of Us," said Druckmann in a statement according to THR. "With Chernobyl, Craig and HBO created a tense, harrowing, emotional masterpiece. I couldn't think of better partners to bring the story of The Last of Us to life as a television show."

Are you looking forward to how this adaptation will turn out?

Weird as I completed my latest playthrough last night.

With druckmann and hbo working on this, it has the potential to actually be good.

Yay, more shitty live action adaptations. Totally what everyone wanted!

Yeah I'll just ignore this one like every other adaptation that has come out the past three years. Just another cash grab with most likely minimal effort put into it. Unless they can prove me wrong, like how for example, the Sonic movie did. Although I am fairly certain the Sonic movie was a once in a lifetime 'good' adaptation.

I don't feel like there's a whole lot of content to make a show with. A lot of the game was basically point A to Point B trying to find the Fireflies only to learn that they moved. That's almost the entire game.

Detective Pikachu was pretty good too.

Place your bets

Which character will they turn black for no reason?
Tess, but only because she dies really early on.
