HBO to adapt 'The Last Of Us' into a TV series
The Hollywood Reporter just broke an exclusive piece reporting that the TV network HBO will adapt the hit video game The Last of Us into a TV series. Craig Mazin, the creator behind acclaimed HBO limited series Chernobyl, will handle the adaptation while Neil Druckmann, the writer and creative director of the video game, will also be involved to write for and executive produce the series. THR also reports that Sony Pictures Television in association with PlayStation Productions will co-produce the project which will be the latter's first television series.
According to the report, the adaptation will be based on the events of the original game, "with the possibility of additional content based on the forthcoming game sequel, The Last of Us Part II".
"From the first time I sat down to talk with Craig I was equally blown away by his approach to narrative and his love and deep understanding of The Last of Us," said Druckmann in a statement according to THR. "With Chernobyl, Craig and HBO created a tense, harrowing, emotional masterpiece. I couldn't think of better partners to bring the story of The Last of Us to life as a television show."
