Trials of Mana gameplay trailer released

Today Square Enix released a brand-new trailer for Trials of Mana, a full, high-definition remake of the third entry in the classic Mana series. Launching on April 24, the game will bring the beloved story and characters to the modern era with real-time combat, beautiful 3D graphics and updated gameplay.

Originally released in Japan as Seiken Densetsu 3 in 1995, Trials of Mana immerses players in an unforgettable adventure filled with exciting gameplay, memorable heroes and villains. Players will craft varying experiences by selecting a party of three from six unique characters as they embark on the adventure of a lifetime, upgrading their characters’ classes into more powerful forms, learning over 300 different abilities, and discovering a world of secrets and mysteries to explore.

The combat looks alright, and the exploration sounds like it could be interesting if its open-world, however I just hope the world is actually interesting and worth exploring. Few JRPGs flesh out their worlds in the way a game like Skyrim did it, so exploration tends to be pointless and boring.

Also, I really hope there's an option to mute the voice acting.

Watered down in difficulty lmfao Secret of Mana was never a difficult game to begin with. Like I said, it was true to the original. Trials of Mana looks like every other game in the Mana series, trash. The characters and enemies look God awful & do not mesh with the rest of the game properly. A more traditional remake like Secret of Mana got would have been superior in every single way, would have been more true to the original, would have been the first time the game got localised. This remake is NOT true to the original and therefore should not be considered any time of localization

Sorry I am legit curious of what you found charming about SOM and how you felt the remake captured that.

Hopefully this won't have the issues Secrets of Mana had in its HD remaster - which, from memory, included truly awful voice acting, nerfed boss battles, and lower-quality art assets, along with not really fixing party AI issues.

So far this is looking like the remake I hoped Secret of Mana would've got! Never fully got into this game - I just remember paying £100 for the SFC version on import then getting stuck part way in due to the Japanese text - I've felt stung ever since!
Day one purchase for me (so far) anyway!

I'm still pinching myself that they released the original SNES game translated + are releasing a 3d remake soon after!

Look way better than the previous two 3D remakes and way more thought put into making the game feel unique.

I'm digging it so far!

It' looks terribly generic like 90% of JRPGs (chara design, palette, fonts, etc.) but still I think it can be good. Not an unforgettable RPG but still pleasant.

Would've been nice if hits felt like they had more impact, and hopefully there's an option to use Japanese VOs because the dub is meh as most dubs are. Looking forward to this but I'm not sure it'll be worth the launch price.

I know lol, but even the original date was close. :)
I don´t think Square-Enix is targeting the same market with this release. If they would release it at the same time as a game made by Tokio RPG Factory. This is just a niche release from Square-Enix besides Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy. Those two don´t compete eachother anyway.

Soooo what would the separate markets be? xD Hahahah. They are both action jrpgs. Of course it's the same market. I was a teenager when both of these games came out, of course I want to play them again.
