Hi, my friends N3DSXL got in contact with a soft drink which made the buttons and sliders very sticky. 3DS itself was still working. He decided to clean it, but after this procedure, 3DS won't turn on. When he turns on his 3DS, the power and WiFi LED comes up and then the power LED slowly blinks once like it is in sleep mode and then the console shutdown itself. There is no sound. We think it might be an issue with the sensor that detects when the console lid is closed so it constantly thinks that its in sleep mode. We don't know where it is located tho. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me where that sensor is in N3DSXL or if you have suggestions where the problem may be.

EDIT. I misunderstood the problem. The power LED is constantly blinking, so I'm even more certain that the console thinks it's in sleep mode.

It's located by the ABXY buttons where the speaker lays

Thanks for the reply. I think we will replace the whole board where ABXY is located because I can't physically find the sensor. Unless someone have different suggestion.

Remove the battery and give the mainboard a good clean with distilled water and isopropyl alcohol (to displace the water). Then let it dry for at least a week.

The very first thing you should always do on water damage is removing the battery to stop corosion.

The battery was replaced. He cleaned the motherboard and buttons with isopropyl alcohol. I don't know if he let it dry afterward before booting it. I would guess he did not.

Hardbrick by liquid spill damage is quite fatal. The ARM SoC (CPU) is probably fried.

If he has another fully functional donor n3DSXL, he can check if his borked n3DSXL is salvageable by swapping the motherboard into the donor.
