GOG updates its refund policy with full refund up to 30 days after a purchase
GOG, the digital video games store from CD Projekt RED, announced a new update to its refund policy with a 'gamers-first’ approach via a blog post: starting now, you can get a full refund up to 30 days after purchasing a product, even if you downloaded, launched, and played it. Yup, you read that right! It's quite the generous offer and likely a move to attract more customers to its platform while combatting piracy. However, the company notes that it reserves the right to refuse refunds in individual cases.
“We’re monitoring the effects of the current update to make sure no one is using this policy to hurt the developers that put their time and heart into making great games,” reads an FAQ on the new refund policy.
GOG also encourages gamers to consider sharing their opinions if they've played and finished a game and didn't like it, rather than take advantage of the refund policy. There are also other technicalities regarding specific cases like pre-orders and gifts. For the former, they can be refunded during the pre-order period and for 30 days after their release date.
