I got CFW pretty recently so all of them are latest versions.

Also, because Korean version of 3ds doesnt have theme function, I've changed region from Korea to US.

However, while I was playing animal crossing, which is Korean version, I got errdisp generic message several times.
(btw I've also changed region and language of animal crossing to Korean using luma local changer)

Any idea how to fix it??

Should I revert region back to Korea?? Some ppl say I need to reset my sd card...idk

  1. @PabloMK7's advice for better error message: Change the sdmc:/boot.firm on the SD card to Luma3DS v9.1.
  2. Update to the latest 11.13U firmware in System Settings or Recovery Mode.
  3. Check this list to see if your game may need to import its seed.
  4. While holding (SELECT) button turning on the n3DSXL, go to Luma3DS v#.# configuration and use the setting (x) Enable game patching.
  5. Play out of region games with Luma locale Emulation. Depending on which Korean version of the game you have, add this *.txt file to the specified directory with the following code. This process can be automated with LumaLocaleSwitcher.
  6. For out of region games with DLC, this may need the addition of LumaLocaleRegionAutoSetter.
  7. To correctly display fonts for certain of region games, use SharedFontTool.

Thank you so much for your kind explanation! However errdisp is still showing on the screen. I've done the first two parts, animal crossing wasnt there on the import seed list so I skipped it. game patching was already enabled, and I've used luma locale switcher to change region to Kor (both region and language). I have checked locale.txt file's presence in the sd card. It is there. But it still shows errdisp error, though error code has changed a bit. Is it fixible??

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Also I tried to import seed after getting errdisp screen again but fbi's showing me another error so I couldnt :'-(

I'm gonna go with the guess that the missing Korean font in USA firmware is the cause of the crash like in these examples for Tomodachi Life (KOR) played on region changed 3DS.
See if step 7's SharedFontTool helps.

Thank you for your reply! I've installed shared font tool to my 3ds (though I downloaded 1.2ver cuz I couldnt find any instruction how to install latest version, so followed korean blog explaning how to install 1.2ver) and successfuly changed the font. But still I'm getting the error screen.... I hope there is a way to fix it...

If I buy animal crossing catridge (korean) and play on my 3ds (region changed to US) then transfer my save data would work?

Let me get back to you later to see what I can find. I'm going to try Animal Crossing - New Leaf (Korean version) on my n3DSXL later tonight.

+ In case this caused error, I forgot to mention that I downloaded amiibo+ update file from blog and installed it because the animal crossing file I had was 4000000086500 version. It was installed successfully as I could use amiibo. But, when I was checking locale.txt file from sd card, the folder name was 4000000086500 instead 4000000199000.

if it was 86500 you downloaded. its not magically going to turn into 199000. its the us version and its going to stay and read that from the sd card. If you are expecting 199000 than you need that exact region copy.

I'll look for the amiibo+ version too when I get the chance (don't share or tell me where to find it because it's against ToS btw).

I'm currently busy taking care of some house work. Here in America, some of us live in neighborhoods with the dreaded Home Owners Association. If it's not the stupid grass not looking [ green / short / weed-free ] enough or the garbage & recycling bins put out and taken in at the allowed hours, it's the annual hound your butt over the 'ugly' driveway that needs pressure washing or repainting.

At least Florida's weather is beautiful and not too hot today, so that's nice. :/

Here's the update on my attempt getting Animal Crossing: New Leaf (KOR) to run on my n3DSXL with Luma3DS v10.0.1 and 11.13U 3DS firmware.

I used this 3DS rom converted to CIA in GodMode9.
, and this accompanying v1.5 update CIA that includes the amiibo+.
  • Welcome Amiibo 1.5 KOR.cia [ CRC32: B5C23330 | Size: 202 MB ]
Here are the results.
  • ACNL (KOR) on USA firmware.png
The game does not require luma game patching, locale.txt, or Korean shared font.

***

@bobo0921, your issue could be due to:
  • fake or dying SD card
  • corrupt CIA installation
  • frankenfirmware due to incomplete CTRTransfer

Section I - Determine if the SD card is bad.
  1. Copy everything off your SD card to a computer.
  2. Quadruple reformat.
  3. Full Write + Verify the empty card with H2testw. Do not skip.
  4. If the card passes, delete the *.h2w test files.
    • :!: A reported error means the hardware failed card will need to be replaced. Go back to step 1.
  5. Copy everything back to the SD card.
If the H2testw results came back good, follow Option (A) for Section II.
However, if the program detected an issue with the SD card, do instead Option (B).

Section II - Check if the installed SD title(s) have corrupt data.

Option (A) - The SD card was found to be free of hardware defects. These steps will take a look if the installed copy of AC:NL (KOR) and its v1.5 update are intact.

6a. Insert the SD card into the n3DSXL, turn on the system, and hold the (SELECT) button to access Luma3DS chainloaderGodMode9.
7a. Hold (R)-shoulder and press (A) on [A:] SYSNAND SDSearch for titles. A list of all your installed titles will appear.
8a. Press (A) on 0004000000086500 Animal Crossing New Leaf (CTR...(K).tmdTMD file options...Verify file.
9a. Repeat step 8a for the v1.5 update CIA: 0004000E00086500 Animal Crossing New Leaf (CTR...(K).tmd
If the results in 8a and 9a stated Verification success, that means the game and/or update CIAs are good. Skip ahead to step 13 in Section III.

If the results in 8a and/or 9a stated Verification failed, continue with the below step 10a.

10a. Backup the AC:NL (KOR)'s save + extdata with Checkpoint or JKSM.
11a. Reinstall fresh copies of the game and/or update CIA with FBI.
  • :!: WARNING: Installing the game CIA (00040000) will overwrite and delete the save.
12a. Restore the save + extdata with save manager of choice from step 10a.

***

Option (B) - The SD card was found to be faulty. These steps will convert all titles in the Nintendo 3DS folder back into CIAs. Those that fail to get dumped will need to replaced with fresh CIAs. This is to rebuild the 3DS library to be free of data corruption.

6b. Download and add the CTRTransfer (Type D9) gm9 script to the SD card at this directory:
  • sdmc:/gm9/scripts/CTRTransfer (Type D9).gm9
7b. Insert the SD card into the n3DSXL, turn on the system, and hold the (SELECT) button to access Luma3DS chainloaderGodMode9.

8b. Press (START) → Scripts...CTRTransfer (Type D9)Rebuild 3DS Database(B) Full(1b) Backup CIAs & Saves.
  • Note #1: To prevent accidental misuse, a safety mechanism was built into this script's option. You must carefully read the ~ INSTRUCTIONS ~ and description found in the top screen. An outside action is required before (1b) actually runs.
  • Note #2: If titles could not be converted back to CIAs, these can be assumed to be corrupt. You will need to provide replacement CIAs for these. Look for the log dump:
    • sdmc:/gm9/out/cias (proper)_<ID0>/missing_titles.txt
9b. As specified in the ~ INSTRUCTIONS ~, FBI reinstall the CIAs, go back to the script's for (2b) Restore Saves, restore missing tickets with faketik, and mass unwrap gift HOME Menu icons with Cthulhu.

10b–12b. These steps do not exist.

Section III - Test the game.

13. Launch Animal Crossing: New Leaf (KOR) from HOME Menu.
If the game works, stop here.
If the game does not work, continue to step 14 in Section IV.

Section IV - Repair the 3DS firmware.

It is suspected the region changing you performed earlier with standard CTRTransfer did not go as planned.

14. Repair the 3DS firmware with CTRTransfer (Type D9) - CTRTransfer. Follow the Instructions as laid out in that page.
  • Note #3: You do not have to region change your n3DSXL back to KOR firmware if you do not want to. Try USA firmware again with:
    • sdmc:/gm9/in/11.5.0-38U_ctrtransfer_n3ds.bin
    • sdmc:/gm9/in/11.5.0-38U_ctrtransfer_n3ds.bin.sha
