It's a simple suggestion but to use DSx86 well, you have to keep in mind how computers worked at that time: DOS was the main OS and Windows 3 a simple utility.

For optimal use of DSx86, it is strongly recommended to create a menu in which you can include shortcuts to launch your games but also Windows, Pate's made a very good tutorial on his blog, you can find it here : http://dsx86compatibility.pbworks.com/w/page/26739629/Instructions For Use

You can also create your own shortcuts to back to the menu by creating with Notepad .bat files in which you indicate the return path in which the original 4start.bat file is located ( don't forget, the root is recognized as c: ) :

c:\data\dsx86\4DOS

So for this, you just need to create a .bat file indicating the return path (tree structure) with the "cd .." command where the 4start.bat file is located (c:\data\dsx86\4DOS) and the "goto" command, ex :

For Dune, the directory of the game is placed in the dsx86 folder (c:\data\dsx86\dune), the .bat file that I'm gonna create to place in the dune folder will be called 4DSMenu.bat, here is the command line to write :

@Echo OFF
cd..
GOTO
c:\data\dsx86\4DOS\4start.bat
GOTO

Once this .bat file has been created, you just need to drop a copy of it in each directories of your games or utilities, so when you exit a program and return in DOS, you only have to press the Y key on your DS to call your 4DSMenu.bat file and validate the command by pressing the A key to launch the 4start.bat file command and return to your programs menu.

Don't forget that Windows must be installed on the root of your SD card, it is also useful to create a 4DSMenu.bat file in the root of your SD to return to the program menu when you exit Windows.

You can also configure the commands and the graphic resolution of each of your games using the DSx86 Config Manager utility: http://dsx86compatibility.pbworks.com/w/page/38256760/DSx86 Config Manager

Dowload : http://dsx86compatibility.pbworks.com/w/file/fetch/38112927/DSx86 Config Manager.rar

Once you have defined the commands for your game or utility on your PC with DSx86 Config Manager, copy and paste the result into the DSx86.ini file on your SD card.

DSx86 or DS2x86 are quite tedious programs to configure but once the emu organized and configured correctly it is without a doubt one of the best homebrew of the DS
