Mario Party 64 romhack sees classic Mario Party boards get turned into platforming levels

Super Mario 64 romhacks have reached impressive heights, thanks to talented romhackers throughout the years, keeping the N64 classic alive and playable in ways never previously imagined. The latest release of a new project--Mario Party 64--attempts yet another interesting premise: recreating the original Mario Party game boards as fully-fledged platforming stages. The creator of this romhack, MrComit, managed to take classic Mario Party levels such as Yoshi's Tropical Island or DK's Jungle Adventure, and make them into their own adventure, complete with minigames and 70 Stars to collect. Version 1.02 is available to download in the video description as a .bps patch, which can be applied to a copy of Super Mario 64.

If Ghidra could do that, what else could we do? Optimize games to run on hardware that'll eliminate the need for emulators, allowing ports to x86, ARM, and maybe the RPI?
since it hasn't been done yet, i feel like people are too scared to make a windows port, it's been months now
i think nintendo would bring out the chuck norris of lawyers if they find a pc port of it, or even a proper switch port of it

Whoa, this is like a new unreleased game.

Better download before Nintendo throws their hammer at it.

FYI:
For you WiiU owners, this game doesn't work as an inject, game boots, can see the Mario Party 64 title screen, choose a save slot to start game, then boots to white screen.

had a feeling it wont work on vc as the game wont load on real hardware...

Here's what you do: "complete" it in secret, then release the files in compiled form with the uncompiled source code included so that Nintendo will have no control of distribution like with the AM2R situation!

And besides, I'm talking about more than just SM64. How about modifying the code of a PS2-exclusive game like, say, Tekken Tag Tournament 1 to run on x86 and ARM? That's kind of what yours truly was getting at. I think PCSX2's overreliance on Software mode makes playing games through it a headache at times, and if you could cut the middleman out and just run more portable C++ code that can run on multiple devices, it would kill the need for emulators IMO.

personally i'd love to see a port of burnout dominator, because on pcsx2 it's either hardware mode and looks like ass, or software mode and looks good but only runs at 60% speed and locked to 480p

Let me put it like this: when the (admittedly better version, but still, it's on an emulator that the devs classify as being in the alpha state of development, yet it runs many games just fine with few problems provided your PC is a beast) PS3 version of Tekken 5 runs better and doesn't require as much tinkering with the settings as the PS2 version of the game to ensure that the screen isn't littered with black lines (even with the Align Sprite hack on, btw. I also had this problem with the Soul Calibur games) or other issues, you know something's wrong! :rofl2:

Nice. If nitny released proper sequels or remakes of say SMRPG or OoT or any of their older best selling games ever they would be printing money. That or accepting and printing game carts like this :O

Surprised this is not by Kaze Emanuar, there are not many others as skilled as him in SM64 romhacking, and the guy puts out an insane amount of romhacks. That just makes it even more impressive.

Another FYI:

Just following up on my own post above (#28), since this game doesn't work as a inject, for those wishing to play this on the WiiU, the following N64 emulators can run this game:
Wii64
Wii64 Rice
Wii64 Glide

Not tested but I'm sure Not64 can also play this rom hack.

You MUST use FIX94's cafe2wii patcher to overclock the emulator, without overclocking, the first open world area is fine and seems to run at full speed, but once you enter the first course, the game is very laggy.
Overclocking will make this game playable, the answer now is will you be able to 100% complete the game without any game glitches or crashes.

Have fun.
