Hello everyone. On another subject, I was curious if any of you happened to have the DS game, and tried to use it with the patched version of Earth Seeker? I translated everything, so there should be some English on your DS, but unfortunatly I don't own a copy of the DSIWare, I can't tell if it shows correctly.

If any of you would be kind enough?

Thank you in advance.

I'd apply patch V0202 and had the same black screen, after that I'd shut it down thinking my patching didnt work. It is normal to have this black screen at the beginning? I think I'll have to apply the patch again and test it
The black screen is something that happened to me if I tried to use wiiscrubber to replace the files and play on a real wii. You need to use method 3 for the real wii. Or maybe you switched 2 files when patching? Some have very similar names. Please come back to me if your 2nd attempt fails, but remember to start from scratch (if you patched with wiiscrubber for instance, there's a big probability the ISO is "corrupted", better start from the japanese ISO).

I'd use method 3 and my ISO is different than the one in the tutorial, mine have Partition0 UPDATE and Partition1 DATA. I patched the data partition since it was more similar to the one in the tutorial. I'll try again and see how it goes

I just tried a 4th time to get this to work following the "method 3" instructions on pages 9-11, and with my third different ISO file. Every time it makes a bad partition according to WIIScrubber. Can someone who has successfully made this please take pity upon me via PM?

Nevermind! I found a patched version "elsewhere." Thanks again, Brand!

By the way, you might enjoy this unrelated brief review of the game mentioning this patch. I didn't realize you were a team, Brand Newman!

Good evening everyone,

As promised, I have tried to find an easier way to patch the game, and found out using Wiimms ISO tools is quite simple !

So I updated the README FIRST in the zip file, but for those of you who don't want to download the file again, please find below the method.

I think it should make things easier now : as for me, I'm moving on to my next Wii project, expect to hear from me within a few months, but I remain at the disposal to anyone who meets difficulties and / or wants to ask me questions about my patch.

I noticed that the Spanish community seems to show a strong interest in the game, so if any of you wants to translate it and needs the graphical ressources or some advice to tweak the font (the Spanish accents...), please let me know !

I hope you'll enjoy the game and wish you a good night, below is the new improved method to patch the game.

Yours truly,

I can't wait! Well, actually I can... take your time ;) Thanks for your commitment!

Btw my copy of "Ikenie no yoru" arrived and it doesn't work with the Riivolution patch :(

Thanks for taking the time for making the video.
I made a new patched ISO using the latest method and I had the same result, black screen with weird characters, the game doesn't run on my Wii U's vWii.
I decided to load the japanese ISO without patch and I got the very same black screen, so the patch is absolutely not the problem by now.
I think it may be due to my Wii U's region or my USB Loader GX configuration. I've tried many changes on USB Loader GX's config without success, so I asked a friend for his config file and I compared his file with mine, but I found nothing out of place.
I'll keep trying to make run the japanese version in the first place and then retry with the patch.
If I make it run, somehow or another, on my Wii U's vWii I'll let you know.
Thank you for everything.

Oh yes ! it might be as simple as that ! Try "force NTSC 480p" in video mode and come back to us.

And don't forget to connect a nunchuck or a classic controller too !

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
