USB LOADER GX r1272 takes about 45 seconds to show my GameCube library. If I switch it to only show my Wii games it loads within 5 seconds and I have 2x more Wii games than GameCube games. It seems that it is only related to the GameCube games, everything else loads fine. It plays the games fine as well, just takes forever to show them in the list. It also repeats this loading time when exiting the settings menu while GameCube games are still selected to show. So it gets quite frustrating.

My HDD is a Portable 5TB WD Elements.
FAT32 / 64k Cluster (Showed incorrect size with 32k Cluster)
(I have tried a y-cable but it did not help the issue.)

I have my games in the folder like so:
"USB:/games/Zelda Wind Waker [GZLP01]/game.iso"

Also when trying to load GameCube games directly from nintendont instead of USB LOADER GX it takes about 5 minutes to show the list of games....

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello.:)

How is the Behavior on Wii Games ?
Is your HDD partitioned ? And if yes how many Partitions are on it please ?
Is your HDD an MBR or GPT Drive ?

Wii games work fine. They load within 5 seconds as long as "GameCube" is not selected.
Only one partition on my HDD.
MBR

Thank you.:)

How much GameCube Games are on your HDD please ?
Maybe it has to do with the Amount of it....

My Guess is it has to do with:

FAT32 / 64k Cluster (Showed incorrect size with 32k Cluster)

:(

600+ Games
It reports the drive size incorrectly when using 32k clusters..... can it still be used that way?

As I presumed....it is reported from Users, that for GameCube Games the Loading Times are sometimes very slow....
Depending on how much Games and which HDD is used.:(

Your HDD is only used for the Wii ? No maybe hidden Partitions created from Windows ?
Maybe try to re-format the HDD with an Tool like AOMEI Partition Assistant to "correct" the incorrect Size you mentioned.

Thank you.:)

In USBLoader GX there is a Setting maybe that helps you:

Global Settings > Hard Drive Settings > Sync FAT32 FS info.

And also if your HDD has maybe an Power Supply, that also helps and maybe works "better".:)

I have tried using a powered USB hub assuming it was a power issue, but that didn't change anything.
I have also tried using the Sync FAT32 FS Info .... It didn't seem to help

I will try reformatting the drive with the software you mentioned...

Ok,wish you good Luck.:)

Please remember only ONE Partition.
Nintendont always "search" for the First Partition.:)

I managed to reformat the drive to 32k clusters and it shows the correct size. Still loads GC games slowly. I have tried multiple different drives at this point, so I don't think it is a HDD issue. The one thing ive noticed is that if the drive is in NTFS format then it will load the game list within 5 seconds. Although you can't play GC games with nintedont without FAT32.

Hello.:)

Thank you for your "Report".:)

Your HDD is still in "one" Piece ? I mean one Partition ?
Of course I think it is connected to the correct Port 0:
728px-Wii-USB-port.jpg

The slow GameCube loading has nothing to do with USBLoader GX.

Can you maybe please try:

- make an Folder "games" on the SD Card
- copy 8 --10 GameCube Games on it (of course with the suggested Folder/Gamenames).
- please try it with the unplugged HDD
- try to load the Games from SD Card to see it that method loads the Games faster.

If that is the Case, you mabye have no other choice to Split the HDD to 2 TB Partitons and format the First to FAT32.:(

Thank you for your Assistance.:)

I have placed about 35 GameCube games on my SD card. It loads them without issue.

I just don't understand how USB LOADER GX can list all the Wii games in 5-10 seconds, yet it takes 30 seconds to show a smaller list of GameCube games. I wonder if there is a difference in how GX finds or caches GameCube titles VS Wii titles.

Thank you.:)

That means the Covers too ? Are they located in the SD Card or HDD ?
Maybe it is a Cover Cache Issue....
Did you maybe set some Paths to the HDD ?
(Covers/Cheats and such Things)

How are Game Loading Times from NINTENDONT now please ?
From within USBLoader GX and from Homebrew Channel/Nintendont ?

Thank you.:)

All my covers are on my SD card. I only have games on my HDD.
Loading Times with Nintendont have always been way longer, something like 7-10 minutes from the HDD. I assume this is because it is actually opening and reading each individual title, where USB LOADER GX uses the ID in the folder name to speed things up.

I tested by placing 32 games on my SD card and the same 32 games on my 3TB and 5TB HDD's.
The SD card is noticeably faster than both HDD's for loading GameCube games in USBLOADER GX and Nintendont.
Although with only 32 games, even the HDD is loading within 5 seconds. The SD loading card is almost immediate.

Why is this only a problem for GameCube and not Wii games?

Would you be so kind and post a sysCheck please ?

Only that we see there are no "anomalies" with the Wiii ´s Softmod itself.

Thank you.:)

I really appreciate your Help.:)

The good News:
Your sysCheck is good, nothing to report.:yaywii:

i completely forget to ask:

Which VERSION of Nintendont did you use please ?
Please be sure you are on the latest Version v6.489.
Did you maybe have an GameCube Memory Card attached ?

For your Issue:

Can you maybe try an older, smaller HDD - 120-500 GB in Size if possible please ?
Please share your Results if you be so kind.:)

For your HDD:
I only can "recommend" you, please try the "splitting" to 2 2TB Partitions Strategy.

Please note this Points:
- HDD is initialized as MBR Drive in Windows
- First Partition MUST FAT32 otherwise Nintendont can not find any Games
- Please Load the Games ONLY with Nintendont from the Homebrew Channel or via Channel Forwarder

Good Luck.
Thank you for your Patience again.:)

I was using Nintendont v5.486, updating to v6.489 did not fix my issues.
No GameCube memory card.

300GB HDD MBR FAT32 1 Partion with 220 GameCube games / Same result on a smaller scale because of the smaller amount of games, takes 8-13 seconds on initial load.

Nintendont still takes waaay longer than USB LOADER GX.

.iso format
They are not compressed.

Thank you.:)

Would you please be so kind and post a Screenshot from your Nintendont Settings ?
Please boot NINTENDONT from the Homebrew Channel not from within USBLoader GX please !

P1360431.JPG

Also:

I have tried a few GameCube Games and it takes

- around 30 Seconds to load a Game from within USBLoader GX
- around 20-25 Seconds to load a Game from Nintendont directly

But I have the GameCube IPL enabled.:)
