Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition gets rated in South Korea, hinting at a release soon

xenoblade_chronicles_definitive_edition.jpg

Announced in September of last year, during a Nintendo Direct, was a definitive edition of the cult classic Nintendo Wii JRPG Xenoblade Chronicles. The game has just received a rating via the South Korean ratings board, which previously leaked the existence of XCOM 2 and Catherine: Full Body ports for the Nintendo Switch. With Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition getting rated, it likely means the game is close to finished, meaning we might hear an official release date announcement soon. All we know for certain right now is that the game is set for launch in 2020 for the Nintendo Switch.

nah nah nah nah and a thousand times more nah lol. Pandora's tower to me is a game that presents itself as an JRPG but in reality is a dungeon crawler. I liked it but when looking towards game comparing it to a Jrpg standard the last story comes way on top. As a dungeon crawler pandora's tower does but if a game presents itself as a jrpg that is what i expect and not something else. But that's purely objective from my standpoint and i get why people like pandora's tower more but we can all agree the people liking those games that we need both games remastered on the switch and deserve some love. Not only the last story but also pandora's tower deserves that. Nintendo fucking hell give us some remasters of those and i'll gladly by a limited edition again that i already have of those games on the wii. Give it give it give it !!! Lol
It's an action RPG, like Dark Souls. A dungeon crawler is something different, like Shin Megami Tensei or Etrian Odyssey.

To me it presented itself as a weird Shadow of the Colossus variant with a strange fetish for eating raw monster offal.

This is a great game. I am curious if they can beat the superb job fan communities did with their hd mods. I highly doubt it. Of course the real question is can my switch handle the power of the monado!

is this the game wher every few minutes you hear someone say monado lol
"Did you monado food for dinner?"
"Where are my fuckin' monados!? I left them right under the monado last night?"
"Dear, can you please monado the sauce to me?"
"I have no monado answer to this monado."
"Last night there was a monado on the street."
"Do you realize that you carry a monado (*means gorgeous*). monado (*means big*), monado (*means red*), monado (*means shiny*) sword on your back?" --- "Uuuhhh, yeah! I mona'do!"

Was something like that. It's the monado language after all. :D

I remember when it came out on wii, came back from work at 11pm, eat dinner crazy fast, and keep playing till it was 5am or so...
Good times, too bad i don't have the time (still haven't finished XC2 or XCX...)

Ok just to clear a few things, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition according to the last year video it won't be just a remaster of the wii.
From what I saw they updated the graphics and it look like the graphics from Xenoblade chronicles 2.
So we won't just get a remaster with higher resolution but we will get XC1 with XC2 graphics, at this point we can't call it remaster but a remake maybe or something like that.

Remaster means; pep up the gfx and redo it for higher resolutions with high resolution textures, alter and adjust the mechanics, few bug fixes here and there. Remake means; redo an old game with different style of gfx (3D models instead of 2D pixelated gfx), alter and adjust the mechanics (no need for bug fixes as it's rewritten from scratch) as it's done in Secret of Mana or Final Fantasy VII.
HD means; same mechanics, same gfx (no high resolution textures at all), just higher resolution as it was in Twilight Princess HD (hence the HD at the end).
So Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is a remaster after all, not a remake, nor an HD version.

I don't believe Secret of Mana counts as a remake. The underlying game is technically identical to the SNES game, right down to janky NPC movements. It received a 3D facelift and nothing else.

It's never been remastered, it's only been ported once to the New3DS

And Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii U's "Wii VC" is literally the same game, running on Wii hardware.
The bottom line I'm trying to make is that Xenoblade has received a re-release on the Wii U eShop, the 3DS port and now a full Switch remaster all within 10 years of release, and Last Story didn't even get the Wii VC treatment.
Also lol @ "Last Story is boring" as if Xenoblade's plot is Shakespearean territory.

Seriously though, why do we have to choose which Rainfall games get remastered? Just make the fans of each happy by, at the very least, bringing the games to Switch.

Taken from Secret of Mana wikipedia page:
A full 3D remake was released for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Microsoft Windows in February 2018.

Please note the word "remake" typed there... It's programmed from scratch, using the same storyboard, same characters, but with new graphics. This makes it a remake.

It's not programmed from scratch, as I said. The underlying systems are lifted directly from the SNES version. It is a copy with a new 3D facade. Early footage shows 1:1 NPC behaviour, including scripts lifted directly from the SNES that made NPCs walk into walls for seconds at a time, instead of turning as they do now, because they had not adjusted their behaviour to suit 3D models instead of sprite flipping.

This is one I'm looking forward to. My only experience completing Xenoblade was on the 3ds. Sure I had a blast and it got the job done, but I'm looking forward to revisiting this game in HD on the television... If I can get my nose out of animal crossing long enough

Not that many people have/had a Wii U tho, same goes for the New 3DS/2DS family systems

(And honestly, who would want to play Xenoblade on such a small screen with that many draw backs?)

Also lol @ "Last Story is boring" as if Xenoblade's plot is Shakespearean territory.

To begin with there's more to a game being boring that just the story and 2nd, I never said it was boring, I just said I agree on Pandora's Tower being better (far better)

Seriously though, why do we have to choose which Rainfall games get remastered? Just make the fans of each happy by, at the very least, bringing the games to Switch.
Botton of the line is Xenoblade sold better and has proved it's worth to Nintendo, unlike The Last Story or Pandora's Tower and has proved itself as an ip

While I do think the PT and TLS deserve a second chance this is obviously a business decision

Secret of mana 3d is probably one of the worst example one can take, the game look like a ds cancelled project. but iam excited about xenoblade 1 on switch, i wouldnt mind pandora tower remaster/remake.
