If you were around in the 1990's, you might remember those old Tiger Electronics handheld games. At least, the company is hoping you remember them fondly, as they'll be bringing back those nostalgic little devices later this fall. Classic black-and-white games such as Transformers, X-Men, and The Little Mermaid will be available, looking exactly as they did when they originally released, all those years ago. They've even remaking the Sonic 3 version, so while SEGA may pretend the game doesn't exist anymore, Tiger Electronics is here for all your Sonic 3 re-release needs. You'll be able to buy each of these at GameStop, for $14.99.

Getting the Transformers Gen 2 ones.

Also amused by the vitriol in this thread. They are novelty items at one store. It's not like they are going to attack you every time you leave your house.

@Blaze163 . God damn dude...

On a slightly brighter note, if these companies insist on filling the stores with garbage, at least repro something kinda cool and unique. Kinda like these https://www.handheldmuseum.com/Tandy/3D.htm
I've got a complete one in a box somewhere that I've had since I was a little kid. While they're basically the same thing, at least they were in color AND in 3d.

prices is too low to include rechargeable batteries so that’s a pass
you're scoffing at a 10 year battery life just because you can't recharge it? these things are ridiculously low powered that a rechargeable battery is a nonissue at it's best

$15 is far too much for something so primitive that nobody wants

I can't imagine people will still be willing to buy these things in 2020 outside of nostalgia.
Lots of people wil be buying these as gifts for nieces nephews for Christmas - it's at the right price-it would do better in shops than online though

Did these come first or Nintendo's Game & Watch devices? I know at the end of the day, they're basically the same format, I'm just curious who was there first. Seems like Tiger probably produced a larger variety of them, and as a kid I wasn't aware Nintendo even made these kinds of things until the first Game and Watch Gallery for the Game Boy was released.

Why on Earth is this still a thing? They weren't even that great when they were new, they might have been decent fun if it was all you had and didn't know any better. But everyone knows better these days. I would much rather have Nintendo re-release the Classic Mini series (keychain versions of popular Game & Watch games), those were actually good fun. I had Parachute, might still have it somewhere, not sure.
On the plus side, Ashens is gonna have a field day with this.

Edit: This was the one I had

this is just dumb there is no way these things today can compete with any electronic game/phone that's on the market now especially when they are competing against the switch! kids these days will just look at it and laugh...except maybe the really poor kids :P

These things were my forte into game modding. But if you buy the european sonic 3 edition or I believe the DBZ frieza game it's possible to load the back ups of the other cartridges. Also you do have to do a little hardware modding to allow you to change out the overlay image (which constitutes most of the backup) and then continue playing.
