The Nintendo Direct drought has ended! Nintendo has announced that they will be hosting a Nintendo Direct this week, focused entirely on Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It'll kick off on February 20th at 6am PT and will last 25 minutes.

Because of leaks early on, describing just how woefully and unacceptably incomplete Sword/Shield were (488 Pokemon missing, per the attached image, along with a slew of moves), that they reused models and animations from the 3DS games - thus meaning no improvement to move animations or Flying-type models to suit the much more powerful hardware, and how ugly the Galar region itself was, I never bought the games. Oh, and half-assed online features too, but that's not my cup of tea. They also flat-out lied about the reason why they removed 488 Pokemon, never mentioned just how many were removed, never told their native Japanese audience about the removal whatsoever, and broke promises made in 2018 after Let's Go removed 656 Pokemon. #GameFreakLied, by the way.

Now that they're charging $30 per DLC, per game (so $60 for both DLC for one game; $120 if you have both games) and $16 to store 6 MB of data (Pokemon files = 1 KB. 6000 files = 6000 KB = 6 MB) along with bringing back non-retarded versions of the GTS and Wonder Trade, my refusal is even more firm.

The ONLY reason Sword/Shield sold 16 million copes and counting is because of the Pokemon brand, instead of their actual quality, and seeing how Game FrEAk and The Pokemon Company have shifted priorities to 'rely on brand name' instead of 'rely on game quality' (which they did until 2013) has me realise the series is practically dead now. A mere shell of what it once was.
I kinda liked Sw/Sh, so you can count me out of that debate =)

I don't think they will either. It was a joke.
I understand - just thought it was better to say just in case, knowing how panicky folks on GBATemp can be =)
Not just on GBATemp, really; all over the 'net. Journalists who reported on the No Man's Sky and/or Final Fantasy XV delays were attacked for "daring to create rumours of a delay", essentially, with the journalists' sources slandered as 'fake'.
I seem to remember Gamnesia being a victim, for example.

But ohp, nope, turns out the journalists were actually correct, and the games that people were metaphorically tearing each other to pieces over were indeed delayed. Oops. The subjective fact that both of these games were actually utter trash once they were eventually released just made all those rabid "fans" look even more foolish, really.

Nintendo starting to piss me off. Ok, I get it. Animal crossing and smash is big games.. but that have some big titles, and milking the cow dry. We need som new games. Give me a new Mario, new donkey Kong, bayonetta or Metroid. Smash is the only game the have focus in the last 2 years soon. And now the same with animal. And some port and indi games. But nothing new.. ahhhhhh, a new player to the roster of smash. Let's have 10 dir3ct about that!!! Fuck!!! I hope the rumor is true that it's more direct with other games the comming week... this won't do in my opinion...

I want a brand-new Legend of Zelda game that ISN'T open-world with awful survival mechanics forced in.
The last brand-new one - that is to say, not a remake or remaster - was 2013's A Link Between Worlds. It's been seven years since then, and it's likely to be even longer until one's made.

Mario...meh. I only really love five games (Super Mario 64 DS, Super Paper Mario, Super Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team), with many others being outright loathed. Overall quality tends to be wildly variable, in my experience, so I'm not too excited by news of a new title.
Bayonetta and Metroid are just not my cup of tea whatsoever, and the only Donkey Kong games I own are DK64 on Wii U VC and Tropical Freeze on Switch, neither of which I've played much of.

I just want a zelda reminiscent of the original. Botw tried to be that, but it just didn't scratch that itch. I'm tired of playing mediocre zelda classic quests from purezc.

We STILL don't know when in 2020 Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive's coming out.
We don't need another Animal Crossing Direct.
Would you rather have no Animal Crossing Direct AND no normal Direct? Because a normal direct wasn’t gonna happen regardless, they’re very likely waiting for [something].
