I have an issue where my 2ds is saying that the SD card is protected and it can’t access it. The SD card adapter isn’t in the position where it’s write protected. The 2ds turns on fine without the SD card inserted but 90% of the time it doesn’t when the SD card is inserted. It did however work once but after I quit the game it gave me the same ‘write protected message’.

This started happening after one of my kids jammed the SD card into the slot the wrong way. I want to know if there is something inside the SD card slot that detects wether the SD card is write protected or not could get damaged by having the card inserted the wrong way?

Hey guys anyone can help me out with this old r4i card it's from r4-pro.com the site is down i want the latest firmware can't find it in here or linfox domain the version there are old any help would be appreciated -snip-
Look under the R4-Clone (up to 2GB µSD only).
That cart supposedly uses the R4 Wood Kernel.
Maybe consider TWiLight Menu++ or upgrading to the R4i Gold 3DS Plus.

Hi all.

recently I have a problem running Homebrew apps on my 3DS XL ( A9LH, 11.0.0-33E ).

ScummVS:
The app freezes with a red screen (lower display). I installed https://www.scummvm.org/frs/scummvm/2.1.1/scummvm-2.1.1-3ds.zip

snes9x_3ds:
https://github.com/bubble2k16/snes9x_3ds/releases/download/v1.30/snes9x_3ds-v1.30.zip
The app runs fine so far, but when I exit this app the lower screen freezes with the red screen.

I replaced boot.3dsx on the sd card with the latest release from https://github.com/fincs/new-hbmenu but it does not fix the issue. I also re-formatted the sd card.

Can anyone help please?
You're using userland entry hax. Hack your 3DS with proper [ boot9strap / Luma3DS / GodMode9 ] custom firmware setup.
Hi!
My 2DS XL doesn't want to update from 11.10.0.
I have Luma3DS v10.0.1, can you help me?
When i try, it shows the "unable to update" error.
Try updating in Recovery Mode and/or with a different Internet WiFi source. If those do not work, fix the 3DS firmware with 11.5.0 CTRTransfer or CTRTransfer (Type D9) and then try system updating again.

Hi!

I haven't updated my Luma since 11.6, rn my Old 3DS runs a Sys 11.6.0-39E. How can I update to the latest Luma version?

Also, would it be safe to use online services such as Pokémon Bank?

Thanks in advance!
Updating B9S

You should be good to go with Pokemon Bank. Just make sure you don't upload hackmons with impossible stats or attributes as that'll get flagged by Nintendo. Is this for Pokemon Home / Sword & Shield?

There should be a leveler switch inside the card slot that detects whether an inserted SD card is set to read-only mode. Check the side that would come in contact with the card's slider pin. Use a wooden shish kebab stick or toothpick to pull in back in place.

If that doesn't work, you may need to either replace that o2DS. However, if you're good with soldering, replace the SD card slot reader.

Can the New Nintendo 2DS XL be hacked?
Does it run 3DS games as well as DS games? DS games require a flashcart, right?
Any 2|3DS system can have custom firmware installed. Just refer to the guide: https://3ds.hacks.guide/
All 3DS software (.CIA files) can be installed to the console micro-SD (reformat to FAT32 if bigger than 32 GB; 64GB an up come with exFAT as mandatory default)

For DS games there is TWiLight Menu++ as an alternative to a flashcart.

Have fun!

I have a console I hacked a couple of years ago, long lost the SD card, so I updated to 11.13 to use seedminer on it to get another entry point
I've installed b9s, but the Luma menu is 7.1, I cannot make it go to 10.1, even though I'm certain the boot.firm in the sd is that release- and Rosalina won't work at all. What do?

EDIT: I dug out an R4 card, got NTRBoot working and managed to fix it. Boot9Strap wasn't updated, so it was ignoring the 10.1 FIRM file. Updated B9S using NTRBoot, got 10.1 working, it's all good now.

Glad you got it working, if you didn't have a DS flashcart you would have just had to follow https://3ds.guide/updating-b9s (this message is for anyone else reading this in the future)

OK, I have an old 3DS XL with Luma3DS on it (not sure what version, not sure how to tell) and I use an SD card and have used Gateway as well. It has 11.0.0-33U on it.

How the heck do I update this so I can install Pokemon Bank again? It's not on the system currently but I've used it before.

You will need to give up on using Gateway. Copy the latest boot.firm onto your SD card replacing the one that's there, from https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases and then update your system from the System Settings. Then you can go to the eShop etc.

Apparently I'm on Luma3DS 6.6, and I think I'm using A9LH, though I'm not sure. https://3ds.hacks.guide/a9lh-to-b9s

I'm not even sure if I "need" the gateway, it's just what I had set it up with at the time? Seems to boot into CFW anyways and I can load a game, so it must be installed to the SD card...
Yep you probably don't need it then. If you used it and had save games you wanted to rescue you'd need to do a little work to keep them but sounds like you don't use it. Yeah just follow that guide and you'll be all updated.

Greetings!

After years collecting dust, I booted my CFW 3DS yesterday and nothing that was installed there apeared, and the reason was simple enough to find out: the SD card is defective (neither PC or 3DS recognize it).

There is a way to save my 3DS now? Or it just a blue brick from now on?

Thank you in advance!

Get a new SD card and copy on boot.firm from the latest Luma version and boot.3dsx from the latest homebrew launcher version and you should be right to go.

As I said, I solved the issue. The firm being booted was on the NAND, it wouldn't boot firms from the SD card. I was able to barge my way into the installer and GodMode9 by using ntrboot, now B9S/Luma are updated.
As was pointed out in that link, your 3DS had boot9strap v1.0 installed which is only compatible with Luma3DS v7.1 and SafeB9SInstaller * launching sdmc:/boot.firm . The more you know.

I actually tried that, and it didn't work. It wasn't launching firms at all, I tried Luma 7.1 (and more) and SafeB9SInstaller's firms before I even made the post. I was having no luck booting firms, so I ended up using ntrboot to force it to run one. Thank you for your attitude, though, really endearing.

Hold up. You stated:

If you were seeing Luma3DS v7.1 configuration, that means you would have been able to launch Luma3DS v7.1 as sdmc:/boot.firm, did you not or are you mincing events of what it did boot before it stopped working?

Ok, it might sound really dumb, but how can I see if I have Sighax installed in my 3DS? I hacked my console like a year ago, and yet I failed to fully understand all the programs I installed. I recently tried to update my Luma so I can safely update the system, but I only succeeded in updating the LumaUpdate to 2.4 because it said it couldn't find the sighax payload. I posted this in a couple of forums, and somebody recommended checking my sd card. Before I try that, I want to know exactly what I'm doing here, starting with what's the thing that's missing lol.
I believe I push my luck a little bit here, but it's not like there is a complete guide for newbies like me somewhere? With definitions, notions, explications and stuff, because it's frustrating to search for every 20 words out of 18 and I really want to understand how things work.
