What is the best way to get rid of the console and at least make some cash of it (i'd throw in the rcm loader)? I can't seem to get the hang of modding the console and having a macbook isnt much help to begin with.

Run windows in a virtual machine or with bootcamp. Try to sell it on your local craigslist etc. Someone here might even buy.
I downloaded tinfoil 0.2.1 so many times and it just keeps freezing and wont let me control it. I just gave up...i added a dlc to my super smash bros and at first it worked then it became corrupt so i installed the new update but the dlc is all gone.

Tinfoil is on version 8.1.0 now

You wont find support for an old version like that

i set up my switch with sdsetup website and chose the default kosmos. I tried goldleaf too but when i click remote PC it just freezes

From what I have read Kosmos is outdated and it might be the reason why you're having problems

I would say that if you are discouraged with everything you should think about buying SX OS

SX OS has everything you need in order to play backups or homebrew and its very easy to set up

Its also easier to lend support since all the programs are under the same family of SX OS products

The new tinfoil doesnt work and the latest goldleaf doesnt. Only this version of tinfoil has given me success but it just keeps freezing on this spot..it wont let me scroll down or select anything. Only the home button works

my advice is to not use tinfoil
use awoo installer, its better, and it even installs the sigpatches for you so you can install backups

I'll give it a shot. Hopefully it works because I don't have a windows device. Thanks bud
I don't understand why your are complaining about your mac book. I can install any mods on my switch with whatever operating system I try, all I need is a FTP client or a sd card reader.

Tinfoil, hekate, etc etc, all just need to be placed on the sd card and your are done, you don't have to run anything on your mac.

Hell, I install most updates and some homebrews, even games on my switch by downloading them to my phone and them FTPing them over to my switch.

To help you my dude, Mac OSX will work fine.

To make it easier, let's start from the beginning!

Format your SD Card to FAT32 (save the Nintendo folder first to your Mac)
Download Kosmos (https://github.com/AtlasNX/Kosmos/releases) unzip it to your SD Card.
Copy over your Nintendo folder again.
Boot your Switch with a Hekate payload, enable AutoRCM inside Hekate.
Boot SysCFW since it's already "filthy".
Open Album, open Homebrew Store.
Download "Awoo Installer".
Install Signature patches via Awoo.
Reboot your Switch (MUST TO LOAD THE SIGNATURE PATCHES!)

Download https://github.com/developersu/ns-usbloader/releases
Enable XCI/NSZ etc. in settings.
Pick your NSP, XCI or whatever.
Choose "Tinfoil" and "USB" (for faster transfers), plug in your Mac.
Open Awoo again, press "Install via USB".
???
Success!

I am a macOS user. What can I do to help you with ? If it doesn't work for you. There is other option for you. Other method if you want. I dont used those that mentioned here. I stick with my own way and its easy as a piece. Anyway, I installed .XCI, .nsp. and DLC using Mac without a problem. I can help you. It is very easy for macOS.
