So I'm using Nintendont on my Wii U using vWii. (I know this is GC section, but this is GC related, if it needs to be moved, then sorry)

I'm running a PAL copy of Pokemon Colosseum aiming to then use https://gbatemp.net/threads/finally-hack-for-japanese-colosseum-bonus-disc-for-us-games.253401/ this guide to transfer Celebi onto it. I already hex-edited the three values to provide a celebi to the PAL pokemon colosseum save file. However when I boot up the J-Disc, I get the attached message when clicking on the shrine.

I know this translates somewhat to "there is no sava data on memory card A" or something. The issue is, I don't know how to make the bonus disc see that I have a save file.

My memory card is an emulated one that is 251 blocks multi-memory using Nintendont's settings. Does it have to be an actual physical card? I do have an original Wii with GC ports, since I'll be sending my stuff over to my GBA cart of Sapphire.

When I boot the JP Disc, Nintendont makes a separate memory card since it's JP region. Is this the fault I'm ending up with? Since it's trying to read from a JP card at that point?

If anyone has any insight and guidance, please let me know how to solve this issue!

The msg basically says "There is no save file for Pokemon Colosseum on the Memory Card of Slot A"
So u need to play and beat the game in japanese first

I'm aware of this; I stated it in the OP. What I want to know is how to sort this out since I have a Colosseum save on the memory card I'm using.

Your memory cards are of different regions, thus incompatible.
Extract and inject your save in both memory cards and use the correct one for Colosseum, please.

Love ya.

I figured I would need to do this, but I have no idea how to - also, doesn't it cause corruption having J-save and US/PAL-save on the same card?

There's an Action Replay code that unlocks the Bonus disc for other reasons which is the easiest method, there is text in the USA Version but it's bugged in the EUR Version. I think the issue here is the Console, Game, Save and also GBA ROM (if sending to a GBA) all need to match regionally for this to work, and the SaveGame must be completed and have all 48 Shadow Pokémon purified.

Not sure about this patch that you've done never heard of it.

Not really, no. In the good old days, we used real cards, and using an out of region game would format the bastard.

Use this: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/GCMM

How do I do this with an emulated memory card? It's showing I have no memory card in either slot. All I have in regards to nintendont is ninmem and ninmemj RAW files in a /saves/ folder on the root of my SD.

Not exactly.

A real Gamecube is designed to format memory cards to the console's region.
Due to region lockout, foreign games won't run and thus can't attempt to save or load regardless.

Playing games from other regions is where things get complicated.

They do run with the help of action replay. Heck I've done it quite often. The only way to play Tales of Symphonia and Baten Kaitos in Europe instead of buying severely overpriced copies.

I messed my memory card because of them more than once. Even lost my F-Zero GX save with an epic run, where I managed to cross the line in first with the ship being destroyed. I almost lost my mind with that one of so much laughter.

Oh well. Tears in the rain...

I remember when I was a young lad we didn't have any of these complications, I simply bought the Japanese Colosseum game and powered through it, then used (a backup of) the bonus disk and a Japanese copy of Emerald.
People have done things to make it work with English language versions, but yeah, it certainly makes things harder.
If you want it legit, the Celebi has to be in Japanese anyway.

good luck and please let us know how you solve it.

Action Replay plays imports without changing the system region. Japanese F-Zero GX is a pretty interesting sight, with its text and UI glitches.

Hi everyone, I have the same problem as the OP.
I'm trying to make it work on a Wii with Nintendont.
I modified the Iso in the HeX editor and changing the values as same as in the tutorial that OP posted, and the Bonus Disc won't read the save file I guess. (Nothing is the A slot blablabla).

I'm trying to do it with a Pal Version, I have a memory card emulated in Slot A but I'm not using the multi-memory card option.

Can someone help me to make this thing work please ? :)

You have to rename the file of the memory card for Colosseum to whatever the name is for the Celebi bonus disc's memory card. Once the name is correct Nintendont will load the memory card containing the save for Colosseum. And once you're done with the bonus disc you'll have to change the name back to what it was originally so that Colosseum can read it again.

Another option would be to open the memory cards of both games in Dolphin and move the saves over that way, but that's about the most pointless way to do it when the only issue is that the file isn't named correctly for Nintendont to load it.

Also be sure to make a backup on your PC first before you rename anything in any way, just to be sure you don't accidentally overwrite something you didn't intend to.

I did the exact same steps and it worked !
I needed to put the save file in Dolphin to get it inside the Jp memory card file and I redo the thing to make colosseum read it again !
Thank you guys !

Another question, is it possible to do the same thing with the Jirachi bonus disc? (I'm using a PAL game and we didnt had Jirachi back in the days)

Huh, I didn't actually know that the GC memory cards are formatted unique between regions. I would have guessed only the save files are region locked, not the entire filesystem. TIL.

Anyhow, no idea about that Jirachi bonus disc, but it appears that you can get Jirachi in PAL regions after finishing Pokemon Channel.
