Hello All,
I recently decided to pick up a Wii U to get some of the classic Zelda's updated to 1080P. I was using Goodwills online auction site and accidentally won two auctions. One was for a black Wii U with 2 pro controllers, the other was for a white Wii U with 3 wii motion plus wii motes. Here's the issue, the Black gamepad is in rough shape with a decent size scratch on the screen, part of the right joystick is scraped off and all the covers for the screws are missing. The black console came with splatoon, and smash bros on the system with the disk for Twighlight Princess HD in the drive (score!). The white system is in perfect shape, the gamepad is flawless and has no scratches. The console has no games on it. So my predicament is that I like the flawless condition of the white console and gamepad but it has way less memory and none of the pre installed games. What do you think I should do? Can I expand the memory on the white console and transfer all the purchases? I don't have the original NNID for the purchases, will they still transfer? Any advice? I'm thinking about just keeping the white gamepad with he black system and selling the white system with the black gamepad.

I got the white system for $55 and the black for $85. It seems silly to keep both when I could probably sell one on craigslist and make most of my money back on the whole thing.

Thank you!

The white Gamepad can be paired to the black console if you don't mind them different colours.
My original white gamepad had issue with the analog stick so I bought a black one to replace it.
Alternatively you can use an external drive on the white console to get more room but I don't think you'll be able to transfer the purchases.

The 32GB built in memory on the black models is still pretty limited in the amount of games you can store. This is especially true if you intend to get digital versions of retail games - in which case you really will need a USB hard drive at some point.

If you decide to get a USB hard drive, then the built in memory really doesn't matter all that much - so then it just becomes an issue of color preference.

If there isnt a NNID linked to the console then I think it should be possible to system transfer the purchases across to the other system. If there is a NNID linked then i'm not sure thats possible. However, if you intend to hack the system then there are probably other ways you could recover the games.

If you like the white color and intend to get a USB hard drive at some point then I would suggest just keeping the white console and gamepad to keep everything matching.

Some other points to consider:-
-Due to the glossy finish black consoles tend to show up dust/marks/scratches much more easily, and tend to look a lot worse for wear than white consoles, especially if they have been moved about a lot.
-White GamePads can sometimes have analog stick rubber discoloration (Typically yellow/orange) Especially if they have been used by someone who doesn't wash their hands after eating (Although I have read that some peoples natural sweat can also cause this) This is something that black GamePads are unaffected by (Well they may actually be discolored, but you wont be able to see it)

I wanna grab a 360 Slim and a 360 E one of these days. Missed the boat of getting them at their lowest though, once they were discontinued. Could've got them for cheap back when I was a broke 20 something working at Target, but then again, I was a broke 20 something working at Target
