i used nut and goldleaf. Both of them are good, but nut is just faster when installing games via usb. If you are not affected by the drama around NUT/Tinfoil, ne i suggest use it. Cant vouch for Awoo but from what i heard, it also works well

Nut will need python and some prerequisites to work. You will need terminal to launch NUT since its python.
for goldleaf, you need to download Quark.jar and install the latest JRE and run it again via terminal.
As long as both are connected via cable, it will work.

You can transfer files in FTP (via your local Network).
SX OS (and maybe others
) allows us to do that.It's not an USB way, but you can transfer without turn off your switch or unplug/plug your SD card.

On my mac i personally use
Ns-usbloader
On the switch i use
Awoo Installer
they have been working nice for me.

Using a USB-C to USB-C cable should work also.
