This is my first every post here. Hello all!

I have a little knowledge on the subject and have done stuff like this for a long time. However, I had a couple questions someone might be able to help me with.

I'm currently on version 8.0.1 running SX OS. Some updates that I try to install says I need a higher firmware version.

Is it safe to update the firmware now or should I wait further. Also, if it's safe can someone point me in the right direction on how I should do it. Thanks!

Also, while I have researched and this is very debatable. Is there any reason to use SX OS over Atmosphere/Kronos?

Thanks!
It is recommended that you update to 9.1.0 using ChoiDujourNX. If your SD card is exFAT (not recommended), make sure you select the exFAT version of 9.1.0 in ChoiDujourNX. If you do not want to install AutoRCM, make sure you de-select that option in ChoiDujourNX. Also, sure you are using the latest version of your CFW.

Other than loading XCI files, there isn't much of a reason to use SX OS. If you don't care about being able to launch XCI files (without installing them like NSP files), Atmosphere is recommended.

Use Hekate as a test payload instead of fusee-primary, just to make sure the problem is unrelated to the file system type (i.e. exFAT without exFAT drivers).

To be clear, do you have the latest game update installed? It could be a bad file.
tried Hekate, still black screen, comparing the screen to my OG it has a yellower colour aswell making me think it’s patched, serial checkers say possibly patched, so I’m going with that.

so what’s the deal with transferring data? All my stuff is on a 128gb and I only have a 64gb to transfer to, will that be a problem?

If the data is less than 64GB, then you can use the 64GB SD card.

Thanks for the information. I'm using the SD card in it's default format as far as I'm aware. I'll have to check when I get the time to see if it's in that format. I'm assuming it's pretty straight forward to use ChoiDujourNX then. I generally use AutoRCM.

So would you recommend that I go back to Atmosphere? Since I've been just installing the XCI with tinfoil anyways? Is that still a function on the atmosphere OS? Or is that limited to just SX OS?

You can install XCI files like they're NSP files using Atmosphere. I personally recommend using Atmosphere unless you cannot live without XCI-loading.

Yes, Latest update installed, I tried other versions of the update from other sites thinking it might be a bad file, haven't tried any other rips of the game since it worked before update. the same thing happened with Little Nightmares, broke after update, on 2 different consoles, running 2 different CFW (Atmosphere/SXOS) If I'm on airplane mode it won't launch unless it has access to verify license, if I do give it internet access (blocking nintendo of course) it just crashes. While is seems like a sig patch error I've updated them and all other games work but those two. I've deleted and reinstalled them both, specifically RE5 at least 3 times. The first time I installed update and game together and it didn't work. So I uninstalled both, and reinstalled just the game. The game worked fine, thats why I assumed I needed a firmware update to get the patch to work, now with FW update and game update I can't even get the game to work by just installing it with no patch (aka title update)

I appreciate your reply and any further help or insight you might offer.

Are you using fusee-primary or Hekate to launch your CFW?

Kosmos, Hekate I believe, but when I look in my files Hekate uses Fusee so I didn't think there was a difference, even though when I downloaded the SD files I chose the hekate option, and not the Fusee one.

Hello,

I just updated to 9.1 and now I can't read gamecard anymore. If I understood well, it's because 9.1 will update gc reader so hekate block it to prevent any update ?
But what is the problem with an updated gc reader ? Is there a point to keep a switch reaaally clean so it can go back to 4.1 (and still use gc slot) if needed ?

Also, I was using ReiNX and I didn't see any update since june. Did they stop working on the project ?

Thanks

Hi I’m currently following the guide for setting up manual emummc on Such meme, many skills dumping ground and I’m trying to run the command MakeEmu BOOT0 BOOT1 rawnand.bin <drive letter:> but I’m using a Mac with Parallels Desktop and when I find the folder with the BOOT0 BOOT1 rawnand.bin and MakeEmu.exe in file explorer and then highlight the path in the upper bar and type cmd it says “CMD.EXE was started with the above path as the current directory. UNC paths are not supported. Defaulting to Windows directory.” And when I tried to cd into the directory in command prompt it says the “MakeEmu cannot be found” or “no such file or directory exists. So I tried moving everything to the system32 folder and running the command again and it finally found MakeEmu.exe and asked if I wanted to open it but then it just says the application cannot be opened. I guess what my question is is does anybody know exactly where I’m supposed to put these files and find them through command prompt if I’m trying to run that command using a virtual machine? The touchscreen on my switch doesn’t work so I can’t use NYX Hekate and I think this is really my only chance at hacking it but I’m a noob and feel like this would work but I’m just entering the commands wrong. Any help would be much appreciated.

hi, i'm the new guy. I managed to set up my switch a week ago with sx os and have been experimenting with cheats. dont know if this is the right thread to ask. but is there like a homebrew app or something to select cheats in a more overseeable way? in some games if you have like 50 cheats it's pretty stupid to scroll to the bottom. so just wondering if there is a better or faster way.

Hello I just tried installed some mods trying to use checkpoint my switch. its been in airplane mode since about 2 days ago and Im a tad worried since a (bad) guide i tried to a follow didn't bring up backing up the nand first and fore most. i launched my console into rcm got to the Hekate Screen and powered off my console realizing my mistake.
I made my back up and tried lauching the console in emunand only to be met with a black screen.
Im now worried if my Nand Backup is clean or not going forward is there any way to check?

I feel like i might have tried to boot atmosphere before that but i'm not sure since i can't remember

If you never booted with CFW to your NAND, you're fine.

There may be an exploit that requires the reader to not be updated however there is no right or wrong answer with regards to updating it. And ReiNX hasn't been updated because Rei has been busy with his own life.

Question: Is it safe to update my unpatched Switch from 9.0.1 to 9.1.0 yet? Or is it recommended to stay on the former FW?
If it ain't broke, don't fix. That being said, only update if you want to play online or if there is a game that requires it.

I think I may have messed up my switch.

I had installed CFW before, but I wanted to try out emuMCC so I can have a clean install for online play and the eshop. I got everything set up and went into the cfw on my sd card, but the homebrew menu wouldn't open up when pressing r + the album, so I was looking up potential fixes. I thought the switch was off, removed the sd card to take a look at the files on my pc to make sure everything was in order, and now it is completely dead and won't turn back on or be recognized by my pc.

I tried to hold down the power to do a forced shut down, checked if it was in RCM (TegraRcmGui still says no RCM, PC doesn't recognize device either), and charged it overnight on the dock. Its still completely unresponsive.

Is my switch bricked? Does anyone know of anything else I can try?

Hi all,

Because 9.1 update the gc, I wanted to dump some of my gc to install them directly on my switch.

I downgraded with Choidujour to 8.1 to be able to read gc.
Then I tried to dump gc to NSP using NXdumptool.
Then I tried to install it back using Goldleaf but I got an "invalid NCA" error (2002-4518 (0x234C02) is the error code).

Anyone know what it can be ?

I tried this without sucess :
  • Dumping gc again
  • Updating to 9.1 before installing NSP
  • Getting the gc off my switch before installing
  • Removing the game before installing it
