I am curious and have a question, for anyone who uses WiiFlow tiers and can answer.

Do you feel it's important to keep a Wii/USB source button on the base tier? Or would you be okay with having to click a 'Games' button first, then select 'Consoles' and having your Wii source button sitting alongside all the other home consoles?

Having the Wii source placed in a Consoles tier feels "correct" and more organized, but it also feels counterintuitive to have a Wii USB Loader program that requires you to click through 2 menus just to load up a Wii game.
I've been asking myself the same question when making my theme. In the end I came up to the conclusion that I wanted to separate the Wii native games (Wii, GC, VC, Wiiware) from the emulated games, because I consider them to be the 'main dish' that the wii has to offer, and the rest being a 'side dish'. However you are right, it may seem weird to leave them out from the console tier because the Wii it's a console after all. But to me it's important to have them on the base tier, to be easily accessible.

how do u set up wiiware and vc ?? do you install the wads??

I'll write out a quick tutorial for emunand setup & link. I'd recommend not using the nand created by ModMii. WFL & USBGX can both dump nand & in my experience are leaps more stable. ShowMiiWads is very useful but not necessary as both great loaders also install .wads to emunand (GX allows batch install) as well & quicker. Plus you won't have to go back & forth between Wii-Computer. I'll post a link later this evening.

Using real nand you can install maybe 20 VC/WW games tops. The Wii's internal storage is very limited. With emunand you can install the entire VC/WW on USB/SD if you cared to. For me, I've created hundreds of injects (mostly mega genesis) then edit to show artwork & play through WFL emunand plugin. That is really the only advantage but it is a huge advantage. Below are instructions on how to setup neek2o on Wii for nearly 100% VC/WW compatibility.

Edit:
I missed an important step at the end. The neek2o_NK2O_1.wad must also be installed using either WiiFlow Lite or GX Wad Installer. You cannot exit neek games properly (hanging black screen, blinking blue) without it installed.

@RunningSnakes hmm that sounds like something that I might have to do... does it take much to setup? I ran into the issue of not having enough space to save my wii iso saves on the wii u. Is it possible to use emu nand for that? Other solution? I always only have like 20 blocks and most games need a lot more!

http://www.hacksden.com/showthread.php/8119-Compiling-a-vWii-compatible-version-of-SNEEK

This looks like a legitimate tutorial. I have my WiiU vWii soft modded but have not created emunand for it. My WiiU honestly is packed away and haven't really played anything besides MK8 on it. A few years ago I traded my backup original NES complete with 8-10 games for my best buds WiiU complete with 8-10 games when he bought the Switch. Setting up emuNAND on WiiU sounds a little more complex but I'm positive can be done. @Cyan approved of that tutorial, so I feel good about recommending it. emuNAND is a top softmod feature for Wii(U) imo, completed the process so to say (although the process is never complete). Good Luck.

Edit:

Ok, so it looks like if you just want to install emuNAND on vWii, just dump your NAND using WiiFlow Lite. Then you can install wads through WFL wad installer, nothing more. The link above is for SNEEK which you need for some VC/WW, most notably Castlevania-Contra Rebirth, MotoHeroz & most N64 titles. I'm not positive of this as I have not done so myself. Maybe @fledge68 or others could shed more insight.

So is the game of Castlevania rebirth a special case?
To this day it is the only game that I have not been able to run with emunand just run perfectly in Real Nand.
It's weird because other wiiware or vc titles that I have with just a few slight game adjustments are executed excellent in wiiflow lite ..

Yes. There are around a dozen WiiWare that need neek2o installed to play along with most N64 VC. @coraline2 are you using Wii or vWii, also do you have neek2o installed or just normal emuNAND?

There are also two more advantages using Emunand:
- the 1st one is you have no tear and wear of your internal flash nand. Flash memories are subject to a max number of read/write cycles, so (after a very long use) it's possible that they won't work anymore. So, we can say that Emunand will prolong the life of your Wii Nand.
- the 2nd advantage is that you won't risk to brick your Wii, if some wad installation goes wrong. You can just keep a backup of your emunand to restore in case something goes wrong and you're all set.

However, it stil have some issues with the saves. Some games lock up if you try to use emunand for saving, so I use Real Nand for that. But this is not a big deal, with an Emu Nand you can free up your Real Nand from every installed VC/WW, then you'll have plenty of space for all your saves (you can even backup saves with Savegame Manager GX if you ever run out of space). Plus, saves require a very little read/write cycles, so they will have only a minimal impact on the life of your Nand.

@RunningSnakes i am using vwii. No I have never installed neek20. Never really understood the function haha. But I don’t have either installed. I’m more than happy to try it out! @Tetsuo Shima okay that makes sense! That looks like a good option to try out.... yea the main problem for me is not enough blocks for Wii. But most of my games are on separate wiibrew apps so I never understood the reason to use anything other!

Yes, with the level reached by emulation on the wii, the VC is mostly pointless. There are some reasons to prefer wads, in some cases, like a few N64 games, and some special VC arcade game, like Starblade (impossible on Mame Wii) and Hang-On with the wiiwheel. There's even MDK2, an old PC 3rd person shooter, and it works quite good with motion controls (I always wondered if anyone has ever tried to use it for injections)
Then there is the whole Wiiware library. Finally, I'm not sure, but I think you can use Emunand to install DLC's for games like Rock Band/Guitar Hero, that can take a lot of space.

@RunningSnakes I am using emunand in wiiflow lite - wii (without sneek) and I have found titles that also did not run normally but just enabling app loader or app booter (honestly I don't know what it works for) has solved their problem but unfortunately not the castlevania rebirth

Installing SNEEK (neek2o) will only take15-20 minutes on Wii. It is worth it alone for Castlevania-Contra-Gradius & MotoHeroz. ^^^ text guide is pretty simple straight forward. Hope you get it running.

I have both Wii and Wii U. I prefer vWii because it is better in hdmi than a/v cable
