Hey guys I been actually been doing alot of thinking whenever those modchips get released for the patch units is Nintendo going to end the switch Lifespan early?

I mean we are 3 years out and all their units are exploited (which isn't a good thing). I mean I'm all for mods and etc but it's just making me think if team Executer releases it before the switch pro I'm seeing Nintendo just releasing the pro and only supporting the Pro just like they did with the new style 3DS when only certain games worked on it

I understand it's a hardmod so not everyone would have access to it but it just makes me wonder if we would have an epidemic (hypothetically speaking if all switches can be soft modded)

I mean, Just look at what happened with the dsi

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I had a R4 DS and I did my 3DS but I never really followed the Nintendo modding scene until I got my switch. I just remember Sony couldn't do much eith the PSP after it got hacked and they stopped supporting it. I think the PS3 you had to be at a certain firmware to mod it. The only memory I have was Nintendos reputation for their systems being modded very easily which was why they kept on switching up the consoles to stop the modding.

My only concern is that they stop supporting the switch because of the modchips

I just have a feeling they are going to stop supporting the switch if the hacks and mods get out of hand.

Or even worse they switch all games to online only play. Just look at Mortal Kombat 11

The thing is, game cards have very ingenious DRM so I doubt it, And even if they stopped soporting the switch, That would be just dumb.Simply put that would be like sony discontinuing the ps2 just because the ps2 got exploited by the swap trick

What are you even on about?

You're overthinking this.. Of course Nintendo will take measures against piracy but they won't just bring out a new system because some people modify their systems...

I'm sorry to say it like this but your thought process is ridiculous. Don't be afraid that you will have to buy a new system just because Executer brings out their mod chip.

And the games that got released only for the New 3DS were just a few that were also available on other systems and not really worth to buy a new handheld just to play them.

Nintendo very very likely knew that patched units were going to be hacked before they even released, Erista/t210 had many bugs that would allow for coldboot and warmboot, most require some kind of hardware modification though.
The patched consoles were just a temporary solution to slow shit down and make things more difficult until they had their proper solution (Mariko/t214/t210b01) completed.

I just seen first hand how consoles get a shorter Lifespan once exploited. I was talking about a epidemic if all switches could use a softmod on how it would effect them. The modchips I know only a small percentage of people are only going to use them but I'm thinking about if it becomes more accessible (Jig Combo)

The hardmod isn't an issue it's the softmod that makes the general public more aware. But then again I'm new in the Nintendo Scene but coming from a Playstation background Sony had normally brought out many unessasary updates to block the hack

Well I remember the PS4 managed to block all future hacks once 5.05 was exploited

Again.. What are you on about? You mentioned the PSP before and how Sony miraculously dropped their support for the system.
But all I'm seeing is a handheld that sold over 80 million units and had a lifespan of SEVEN freaking years...

Yes, people are modding their Switch systems but that is only a small percentage and Nintendo is still making big bucks. Furthermore all their new systems (sold after July 2018) are not exploitable and even in the foreseeable future it will only be possible with a hardmod which even less people will bother with.

I'll just sit back and see what happens.
